Seymour memorial
Hi, thought you might like to copy and paste the following article to the Seymour memorial. I also added a photo and additional information to the memorial for his son-in-law, T.D. Edwards in South Lead Cemetery, Lead, S.D. Don Toms

Lead Daily Call newspaper (Lead, South Dakota), Monday, July 21, 1902, page 4:

F.W. (sic) SEYMOUR DEAD
T.D. Edwards’ Father-in-Law’s Sudden Demise
F.W. (sic) Seymour, of Triesta, Winona county, Minnesota, father of Mrs. T.D. Edwards of this city, died suddenly at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Seymour was 67 years of age and the owner of an extensive farm in Winona county, Minn., where he has lived for forty-five years past.
He arrived in Lead about six weeks ago, accompanied by his wife, for a visit with his daughter and son-in-law. He had always been blessed with good health and has thoroughly enjoyed his visit here, making little excursions to nearby points and inspecting the places of interest in the vicinity.
It was the intention of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour to leave on the Elkhorn last evening, and preparations had been made for their departure. During the morning he started on his farewell outing and climbed the hill, gathering flowers and taking a last look at the surrounding country. He returned to his son-in-law’s house shortly after noon and at 1 o’clock partook of a hearty lunch. Shortly after he commenced the preparation of his toilet for his departure and was shining his shoes, when he was overtaken by a stroke of apoplexy and prostrated.
He never rallied and at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon passed away.
Mr. Seymour was a man who watched closely his farming interests in the east, and during the forty-five years that he had been engaged in his business had been away from his residence town but twelve days, until his visit to the Black Hills.
Besides his wife, who was with him at the time of his death, and his daughter, Mrs. T.D. Edwards, he leaves three sons, three daughters and a number of grandchildren, all residing in Minnesota.
The remains have been prepared for burial by S.R. Smith and will be shipped to his home on the Elkhorn this evening accompanied by his wife and Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Edwards.
The burial will take place at Eyola, the county seat of Winona county, on Wednesday of this week, if the party arrives at that place in time.

RE: Lucy Edwards obituary
Hi Carol, if you want to email me (dontoms@rushmore.com), I can send you the obituary and funeral notice from the Lead Daily Call newspaper. They are a little too long to send here probably. I remember the funeral notice saying that her body was accompanied back to Rochester by Horace Clark, who was a local businessman here in Lead back then, because her husband, T.D. Edwards was ill at the time and couldn't make the trip. Don

Lucy Edwards
Hi, concerning the memorial for Lucy Edwards in South Lead Cemetery, Lead, S.D. Although Lucy's husband T.D. Edwards is buried in South Lead Cemetery (Section 43), his wife does not show up in the cemetery records. Because of the location of the lot, there is also not a full grave space next to T.D. Edwards, her husband. I looked at her obituary/funeral notice from the Lead Daily Call newspaper and it stated that her body was shipped to Rochester, Minnesota, so it appears that she is buried in one of the cemeteries there.

Hi Carol, I just found this grave that you posted. I believe that Frank C. Wheeler was a gggg uncle of mine. If his parents are Thomas C. Wheeler and his wife was Mary or Polly (Northrop) Wheeler. I would need to find if Frank C had a brother Thomas C. Wheeler born 1800 in Dutchess county NY. Let me know if you can be any help. thanks Gary Bell
