I've been walking cemeteries and have been involved in genealogy since childhood. My father, who was an avid history buff, often would tell us oral histories of the people and places we visited that made it sound so exciting. Because of that, one of my siblings and I developed a lifelong passion for learning more about our roots.

There is something that is so peaceful about a cemetery. If you listen just right to the wind, you can hear the past history that lies underneath your feet. Where else can you find an ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War, making that era in history come alive just by reading his tombstone? Where else can you understand a mother's tears when you come across the many graves of children and infants who died way too soon? Where else can you realize your place in this world through the simple task of honoring your ancestors by preserving their graves for all the generations that will follow you?

If any of my grave listings can help someone, somewhere, then I consider that a good day. Happy Hunting!

Please remove this incorrect burial place. It is a duplicate memorial. I am a relative and can provide proof if needed.

Thank you!

Frank Ely
I just sent several edits for the Ely family, including a short text articles that gives the Ely's relationship to the family of George Herbert Walker Bush. Please correct my error. He was our 41st president, not our 43rd. (That was his son.)

RE: #106111904 John Gregory Herndon and Lucy Mitchell Strange Herndon
My wife is also a 'Strange' by birth with Lucy being her 1st cousin 3x removed.

If you would please provide your paternal lineage (names and dates) back to Lucy and John Herndon, I will be pleased to make the transfers and, if you want, provide a copy of my family research into that part of the Strange family.

Please send the information to brycewhiteside@aol.com directly, (not through FindaGrave which fails most of the time.) Looking forward to hearing from you.

RE: jim blackmore, Ft Leavenworth.
Thanks so much. And if you would like to keep Jim, please ask for a transfer. You're certainly eligible since he was your stepfather. MA

Hi, What do you know about Jim so that I can edit his memorial? Where was he born? Where did he die? Any parent links? Thanks, Mary Ann
