I was born in South Bend IN and raised in Elkhart IN, and moved to southwestern Illinois, near St Louis MO, after a four-year tour with the US Air Force when I graduated from high school. I have always been fascinated by cemeteries ever since I was a young child, especially small family cemeteries. In the last 30-plus years, I have delved into my family genealogy on my father's (Bjornstad) and mother's (Denson) side. My paternal grandfather, Kristian Bjornstad, immigrated from Norway in the early 1900s, eventually settling in eastern North Dakota. His oldest brother had an interest in the Bjornstad genealogy and he compiled the family record into a book and had it published in Oslo Norway in 1943, which traces the family origins to the first king of Norway. I have used it as a reference when submitting memorials for my father's ancestors on Find A Grave. On my mother's side, a distant cousin, Dr. Marion E. Denson of Columbia TN (now deceased) published a genealogy book in 1997 on the Denson families in America, tracing them back to the mid-1600s, when a William Denson came from England and settled in southern Virginia, near the present-day city of Norfolk. This book has been a great source of reference for my Find A Grave memorials pertaining to my Denson ancestors. Additionally, I want to give special thanks to Ronald C. Denson of Birmingham AL (now deceased) who also compiled a genealogy of my Denson ancestors which was very helpful.|
I also want to give special thanks to my wife, Angela Bjornstad, for her help in formatting the photos that I have posted to Find A Grave.
I am acceptable to transferring memorials on Find A Grave to anyone who requests them and who is a direct descendant of the person whose memorial I have posted, unless I am also a direct descendant. If I have incorrectly stated any information for any memorial that I manage, please use the Edit tab feature and I will gladly make the necessary correction(s). Also, I do not object if anyone posts pictures to any memorials that I created and still manage.
I do not have the ability to instantly make any changes or corrections to the Famous memorials that I have posted. Only the Find A Grave administrators can do that. If you should find an error on any Famous memorial that is credited to me, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and provide them with the required changes/corrections.
One final note: Any rude or discourteous messages that are addressed to me on this forum will be ignored AND deleted. I will not respond to them. This also applies to any notes sent to me through a memorial's edit button.

Thank you for your response regarding GEN Smith's photo and permission to use same for submission to the Purple Heart Hall of Honor.
Might I get your permission to use the text of the FindaGrave entry for this individual? I'm not sure the "public domain" applies to this text.

Thank you for your reply, William. If you want my honest opinion (for what it''s worth), I think they are a bunch of sticks-in-the-mud on a fairly frequent basis! That is a totally ludicrous reason not to enter the man's legal name as it was, especially when it is right there, engraved on his tombstone. Go figure.

|S.R.F.||James ALBERT Michener|
Hi! What is wrong with Find-A-Grave admins? I have submitted edits for James ALBERT Michener's middle name of ALBERT several times. It is clearly written on his gravestone. They refuse to accept my edits. What is their problem? I cannot contact them because there is no way to contact THEM! I finally posted a flower note with the man's middle name in it! I don't understand why they are being so bull-headed about this! I saw that you wrote his Bio. Are you related? He is the 5th cousin twice removed of the wife of my husband's second cousin twice removed. Distant, to be sure, but related nonetheless. Why won't they add his middle name to his memorial?

|Carolyn Swiggart||Joseph Clay - portrait|
I saw that you contributed an image for Joseph Clay # 7595493, who lived in Philadelphia.
However, the image is of Joseph Clay, Sr. of Savannah, GA (# 7441074) after the portrait by Jeremiah Theus.
my maternal grandfather

|Billie May||Martha Jane canary (Calamity jane)|
Hello William, Just like to say, that your Boi on Martha Jane Canary, was interesting to read. Would like you to know, I have evidence, from a 1863 school book, (that I have) that was found in Butler Township, Mercer Co., Missouri in an Antique shop, which has Martha Jane's handwriting in it. She was a very well educated in writing and reading. I do research and have found a lot of information on her, that no one knows about.
Just thought you would like to know.
