Bio and Links
Bio Photo It is my goal to photograph and record all cemeteries in Barnardsville, Buncombe County, North Carolina. Most of these cemeteries contain my husband's kinfolk. What I've noticed while doing family research on my husband's line is that about everyone from Barnardsville in one way or another is kin to my husband. That's made it very interesting and on going. Or should I say on and on and on going! Oh well, that's what family roots is all about.....adding more and more people to your family tree. :)
I've been researching my husband/my line for about 10 or so years now. It's so thrilling to connect someone to my husband's/my family tree. But what makes it really exciting is finding pictures to add to my research....Be it of the person or their tombstone. The pictures are like evidence proving they did/do exist! And there's no doubt about the info. you collected when it matches up with the info. you've found on the their tombstones (birth/death dates). Sometimes grave markers provide genealogical information not found in other sources!

New Release
Hi Christine,
My new WBTS book has been released by the Olde Buncombe Genealogical Society. It is now available and I wanted you to read it. You can find it online at This represents 12 long years of work, writing and research, so it's a long awaited victory. The book is titled, Mountain Conflict; The Union Army Finally Reaches Asheville. Be sure to pass it on to your comrades and friends as well.

Henry Burnett O
Hello Christine,
Hope you maby can help me, i saw on your profile you now allot of people in your region.
The reason i found your profile has to do with the pics of 'Henry Burnett O', you uploaded here. (Thanks for doing that by the way.)

As an adopter of his name on the 'Wall of Missing' in Margraten(Netherlands)im trying to get in contact with family members of Henry. Besides that im trying to find as much as info on him as i can get.

So my question would be if you can help me with this, Do you maby know people of his family, or people who know the family Burnett?
( The names of his mother, father and 2 brothers and 3 sisters are also known if this may help)

thanks in advance, Kind regards Madie Gilissen ( The Netherlands)

May Holcombe ((1872 - 1930)
Christine, May Holcombe was a man not a woman. He was the son of Obadiah and Polly Brigman Holcombe. He is shown in the 1880 census as an eight year old "son." Thought you might like to correct this on Find a Grave site!
