The Kuechenbergs

Thanks for your nice note.

It looks as if everything has been straightened out. And since I first wrote you I found that a memorial for Amanda's brother John Henry Sprout has been made, so that's a nice addition too.

The Kuechenbergs
I hope that I can clear up some of the confusion about Amanda and/or Matilda Kuechenberg.

In some court records for transferring property owned by the deceased Hosea B. Sprout, his three heirs were his children (judge) John "Henry" Sprout, Emmaus B. Sprout, and Amanda Kuechenberg. Each of them received a third of the property.

In a history of Dodge County WI (dated 1880) there is a biography of Peter Kuechenberg and it clearly states that he married Miss Amanda A. Sprout, and they had two children Frederick William and Guy Paul Kuechenberg.

Amanda's Find A Grave memorial says she died in 1885. Perhaps Peter then married the Matilda -- I don't know, I haven't researched that, but that does seem to be the case.

I think it was me who linked Amanda to her father (Hosea) and brother (Emmaus), using the edit feature. I do not know the burial location of her other brother, judge John Henry Sprout.

I will go through my notes to see what I can find about the "Matilda" and "Mattie" confusion. I may have been responsible for that too, for which I apologize. I will request a change to Amanda's memorial after I investigate this. My memory tells me that I found her name as Amanda M. Sprout (contrary to the Amanda A. Sprout in Peter's biography). I may have drawn the wrong conclusion when I found the Matilda with Peter Kuechenberg in the census. The last thing I want to do is cause confusion.

I study this family because Hosea B. Sprout was related to my ancestor Nathaniel Sprout III.

Thank you for all you do on Find A Grave.

RE: 2 Amanda Kuechenbergs?
Information changed as noted. Thanks for the input. The DOB in the church records is consistent with the DOB in your records. Again, I am not sure how the extraneous information got into my Find a Grave info.

RE: 2 Amanda Kuechenbergs?

I don't know where all that extraneous information came from. My entries into burials in Calvary Cemetery in Waupun was based upon a spreadsheet generated by church records. The only information I have on that spreadsheet was that Matilda Kuechenberg was buried in Block 2 Lot 29 Grave 5 next to Peter Kuechenberg in Block 2 Lot 29 Grave 6. It does not show any Amanda or Mattie or Sprout as other names attached to her. It does not even list her maiden name. My only desire in making these entries was to ensure that the St. Joe's cemetery (Calvary) records were on Find a Grave and in cyberspace for future generations. The records I have do not have anything about Sprouts or Amanda "Mattie" Kuechenberg, so I don't know where those additions came from.

I can edit her name to remove those entries, leaving her name simply as Matilda Langenbach Kuechenberg, if you are attesting that Langenbach is her maiden name. You can then link her to her parents if they are in Find a Grave. Please advise.
