MOTHER AND CHILD DROWNED
Were Swept Away By a Freshet* In Franklin County While Fleeing For Safety
Frankfort, KY, March 17 - Mrs. Lee Harrod, living near Harp, in the Bald Knobs neighborhood, was drowned last night, and her infant in her arms also perished. Mrs. Harrod lived in the neighborhood visited by the disastrous flood of last spring when several families were swept away by the sudden rise, and on finding the water of last night's storm coming into her house took her infant in her arms and started fleeing for safety.
In the darkness she lost her way and fell over a cliff into the raging stream. Her body was recovered to-day, and inquest was held by Coroner Meagher. The remains of the child have not yet been recovered.
*A flood resulting from heavy rain or a spring thaw.
