In the Federal Census 1850 Shelby County, AL you will find this family:
Myrick J Horton 37 SC
Narcissa Horton 31 AL
State Rights Horton 9 AL
Barthum B Horton 7 AL
Union T Horton 5 AL
Sumter T Horton 3 AL
You have the memorial for State Rights Horton without DOB or Place... and this shows his birth year about 1841 and place AL...just a little more information for your memorial and use the source as the Federal Census.

My husband and I found this unmarked cemetery of Old Good Hope in the woods in Shelby County, AL. It was a challenge and had fun tromping around and solving this puzzle.
There are approx. 20 with the surname Horton buried here. I will be posting on findagrave, but I was wondering if you would like the photos of all sent directly to you?

I don't live far from this cemetary and enjoyed going to it. It is very well kept and had some interesting markers. If you need any more photos, just let me know.

Roger, this cemetery has now been cleaned up by some very nice people it's looking great. I could find no tombstone for William Hall, but I did photograph all the stones I could see, in case you need any others. The stone for Thomas Hall I am glad to say is still in good shape.
If I can help let me know-------B Long
