Bio and Links
My name is Tina Marie Chrisman. I lived in Page County (Stanley) until I graduated from Page County High in 1981. I now live in Colonial Beach, VA. My family names consist of: Chrisman, Runyon, Bailey, Hill, Dovel, Hilliard, Turner, Seekford, and Housden. These families are from the Stanley and Luray areas of Virginia. I am very lucky that most of my ancestors were in the same area. I have been working on my family history for about 10 years. I love it! This website is a great place to find info and help others with their search. I am hoping to add many new cemetery photos soon.

George .Dovel FAG Memorial# 37597454
Born 1786 Died 1870
Hi Tina,
I am a descendant of George Dovel who married Anna Peeksly. I went to Salt Lake City in January and downloaded a lot of Page County death register information. One that I downloaded was George Dovel who died 1 Jun 1870. His son, Adam, gave the information for his death. It lists Anna as his wife and that George died of dropsy. The thing that is confusing to me is that Adam gave George's father as being George Dovel. The tombstone gives David Dovel as being George's father. Do we know who put the tombstone there? Was it grandchildren? The tombstone does not look as if it were one that was placed at the time of George's death. It looks "newer" if you know what I mean. I am just wondering because surely Adam would have know who is grandparents were? Do you have any other proof besides the tombstone that gives David as George's father? I just want to get my records straight in my database. If you don't have anything, I will have to go with the official death register information. George is my GGGG Grandfather. I have the images of George's death if you want them. I wish our ancestors had left clear cut vital record info on all their tombstones!!! :)
