Bio and Links
Bio Photo I love doing Genealogy. I started around 2001 before the loss of my grandma Mosteller. I have a tree on ancestry with over 8,500 names on it. Sronce/Scronce/Schronce/Shronce from at least 25 states. Other names I have are Mosteller, Morgan, Crump, Alexander, Clark, Reinheart, Reynolds, Cline, Taylor...and others. If there is any way I can help and have time I will.

There are many other spelling also (I have seen none of the others on tombstones and would love to know if that is the way they spell their names as of now and their relationship to me)...The original spelling is Schrantz (which means a split coat or someone who was around kings)...Other spellings include Schrontz; Schrance, Schronse; Shrontz; Swronce; Seronce; will add more as I remember them...

The best reference guide I have come across is the book "Leaning towards the Scronce's". This was a very very helpful book, but filled with many mistakes and pitfalls. The Author Christopher Boyles - His grandfather helped do a lot of the leg work for this work and many people was interviewed.

Han's is shown as being the first Schrantz from our line to come to America his arrival was in 1747 and originated from Germany...Prussia as it was known then. From further study I found the Schrantz clan was originally from Bern Switzerland, starting around 1500.
From the book, It is speculated that Hans had a Son that later followed his father to America, they both settled in Philadelphia County, PA for some time. Nicholas ended up moving several times first settling in Lincoln County Kentucky then moving to Lincoln County North Carolina and then back to Lincoln Kentucky. In each state, his family stayed and started their own families. Not much is known about Nicholas children or any other Children of Han but there are several other Schrantz/Sronce/Shronce that show up in the 1790 and 1800 census that I could only surmise are his brothers/cousins/uncles.

Catawba Memorial Park
This has nothing to do with this memorial. This is a request that you are asking for at the Catawba Memorial Cemetery. In order to get a memorial from this cemetery you must do the following. First a family member must call them up to find the location of their burial. Next, you will need to supply this information on the request a photo section. You will need to know the section, row, grave # ect.ect...You must then inform them who is going to go there to take a picture for their family member.....They will not let us in without all this information. TY!

RE: Obituary for Noah Hefner
Thanks, but could you change the name of the newspaper to The Mountain Scout? The Taylorsville Times came later. You would probably find these old newspapers interesting.

RE: Ocie Lee, Blue Ridge Memorial Park
Her husband, Robert, died in 1990. Pendry's Funeral Home was in charge.

Ocie died in 2003. Pendry's Funeral Home was in charge.

Since Pendry's did both funerals, I would contact them. Ocie may have paid for both markers during Robert's funeral and nobody realized it 13 years later.

Pendry's will have all records. Usually, the funeral home is in charge of the markers.

Their information is:

Address: 522 Wilkesboro Blvd SE, Lenoir, NC 28645

Phone:(828) 754-3441

Good luck!

Ocie Lee, Blue Ridge Memorial Park
Unfortunately, even though Ocie shares a dual marker with her husband (Robert), Ocie does not have her own marker.

I verified with the cemetery office that she is buried her next to her husband, but nobody has ever had a marker installed.

The photo shows Robert on the left, but Ocie is missing on the right.

RE: RE Joseph Q Shronce Scronce
My mistake from last reply.I gave u the wrong name. Alexander Z. Scronce was married to Frances Workman. They had 4 children. Nancy Parker was his mother. Sorry about that.. was multi-tasking earlier.
