Rumbelow Gravestone
Thank you for posting the stone of Elizabeth and John Rumbelow (#124640240, 124640241). They are my 4th great grandparents and when we visited the churchyard (all the way from USA), we could not find it. Thanks also to the church for preserving these old stones for descendants!

Photo Requests
I see you have requested photos for Ann (Garnish) Harding and James Harding. I have found photos of their stones, however the site I found them on will allow me to post them, but states to notify them first. Also Find a Grave says no photos from websites, but it looks like I could if I get written permission. I figured it may be easier if I reached out to you to share the photos. You can email me at and I can send them to you, I will also give you the link where I found them. I also was curious as to your relation, I found them under your Cousins Virtual Cemetery. Ann married my 2nd Great Uncle, James. James family (less one other sister, Sarah) all immigrated to the USA in 1871. I would love to touch base and see if you had any information on James/Ann. Best regards, Gary

grave photo for Frank Garnish
Hello Gravely Obsessed, I saw a request for a grave photo for Frank Garnish, at the Nanaimo Municipal Cemetery. I live in Nanaimo and was considering this. I wondered if you knew about a gravestone project in BC. I looked up the Nanaimo cemetery and Frank’s stone has been photographed. Here is the site and pic:
Here is the main page for the BC project:

RE: Photo of Hole Gravestone
Thank you for sharing. I did not notice HOLE in the list of names that you are researching, but if you need any help with the HOLE name in Devon, I would be glad to help. I am in the US but thanks to the internet I am trying to piece together the many HOLES that are from that area.
Thanks again,

Photo of Hole Gravestone
Would you mind if I attached your photo of the headstone of John, Emma Maria, and Maria HOLE, St. John the Baptist, Bishops Tawton, Devon to my tree?

Ernest James Carey # 137927824
Hi Gravely

We were looking for a WW2 Civilian casualty named Ernest James Carey and saw you had the other one that was listed on Find A Grave. We checked on the 1939 Register and found the Careys at Salt Dean Barnstable and we think it the one that you have the pages for. The register has dates of birth as

Ernest 20th April 1889
Martha 3rd July 1890
Frederick 28th Jan 1911

if you want a copy of the register page just drop me a line at and I will gladly send it to you

Kind regards

RE: Sarah Chugg
Thanks so much for the gravestone pic. It confirms my research! :) and thank you for sending Sarah's marriage info. They waited until William's first wife died before they could marry, pretty messy affair with that couple: newspaper article of 1st wife, Prudence Huxtable, accusing him of beating her, and she had other men in the house etc.

RE: Sarah Chugg
Sarah never married. I found her in 1911, in Lee, Devon, running a boarding house, with her sister Annie (also single all her life). Both of the sisters left wills, with Robert Lewis Chugg being Administrator (probably their nephew (1881-1947)). Sarah died 13 APR 1927. Thanks for all the work you do adding people to the database. I found a rather unusual story around a Sarah Jewell, William Ley and Prudence Huxtable. I see you have a memorial for a Sarah Ley who I reckon is the Sarah Jewell in question. Would be great if you could possibly get a picture of that stone. I'll send a request. Many thanks again for the added info, baptisms etc, and the stones you make available on here! :)
