My love of genealogy began when my grandmother gave me a tintype of her and her family when I was in grade school in Kansas. I attended my first genealogy club meeting in March 1962 in Manhattan, Kansas and have loved researching over 50 years. This hobby has enriched my life in many ways. I love helping people begin their quest. findagrave is a terrific service!

Find A Grave Memorial# 146505011
I hope you are right, his kids apparently got obituary mixed up. Mary was a close family friend as well as Sherman.

RE: nEWMAN BOOK
Thank you for your reply. David Monroe Newman's father, Aaron Newman (b. 1816) came from Tennessee before arriving in Illinois. Perhaps we are very distant cousins. I am thinking I should join ancestory.com and see what else I can find. It is interesting to see how families migrate. Good luck with your family projects.

Newman Family
I saw in a message that you had left for Harlene Soper-Brown that you had written a "Newman" book. Is this a reference to the family that includes David Monroe Newman 1842 and his wife Mary? They were my great great grandfather and gg-grandmother. They left southern Illinois for Texas and then traveled to Oklahoma while it was still a territory. I have lots of old family photos and some family information on them and their descendants (including me, of course). I would love to know about the information that you have, if it is connected to my family. Hope to hear from you.

RE: Findagrave--John Deeds
My apologies. I have been sick the last few days, and I have not checked my emails. I'll see what I can do.

Harvey Collinns
I added the biographical information, linked Harvey to Sarah (She too is buried in the Garnett Cemetery.), and sent Edit requests to add Harvey and Sarah as the parents of Iva and Hattie.

Thank you for the information.

Ifound an aticle in the Valparaiso, Nebraska newspaper for the death of Robert Love. Are you connected to the LaRue and Love families from Nebraska?

RE: Wrong Evergreen Cemetery
There is no Evergreen Cemetery in Chanute, Kansas.

The names of the cemeteries in Chanute proper are:

1. Elmwood Cemetery
2. Memorial Park Cemetery
3. Neosho County Memorial Park (which used to be Greenlawn Cemetery)
4. St. Patrick's Cemetery
5. Reeves Cemetery

The only Evergreens that I know of near Chanute is the Shaw Cemetery at Shaw, Kansas, which is in Neosho County. In fact the sign on the entrance still says "Shaw Evergreen". Could this be the one you are looking for?

If so be sure to check the cemetery index for the names you have so that you do not make a duplicate memorials.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Lolly
