Bio and Links
I have been a family historian for 20 plus years. In that time, I spent many hours in the Libraries, in many Texas Counties and Visiting many cemeteries and other States. I appreciate being able to post my families genealogy to findagrave, so that others can have and enjoy also...
When I am blessed to find a cousin, sometimes 3 times removed, and they share a photo with me, I enjoy passing those on as well. They are a families treasures, and to be shared.
My mother and father came from very large families. I was the eldest granddaughter of my grandparents on both sides. My mother could help me with hers; but, my father died when I was 4 and he was 26, so I have just researched to find my family.. Mrs. J. R. Poole

Just Retired, now ready to help my wife with my families genealogy.. J.R.Poole

John "J" Carlile
Dear Sir,
The "L" in John "L" Carlile in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon, Texas should be a "J". If you look at the photo real close, you can see it.

Thanks,
Alan Box

RE: Petty Descendants
Thank you James. The only three I can absolutely be sure of is my Grandfather who's funeral I attended and his father and Grandfather who I have always heard stories about. I do know and have completed his siblings which my Grandmother, Mom and Aunts have verified through out my lifetime. Unfortunately the Petty line was not one of my Grandfathers interest due to conflicts between his father and himself. I guess I do not have to tell you where that leaves me when a question comes up about past family members. Outside of my Mom and her sisters knowing his immediate family, Grandpa never spoke much about his family. I have had to be very careful in my research prior to those 3 generations since there is no one who can verify records for me. I can however, research the ones who lived in Texas. Unfortunately our Petty line decided to inhabit most all of Texas which covers a vast area. LOL. If you use Ancestry.com that is where my primary trees are. I have a Maternal and a Paternal tree. The Petty line is on my Maternal tree if you ever wish to take a look. It is public so guest are able to pull it up and look at it. Naturally the living are kept private. I am always looking for others who may know a little more than I have been able to find out. I wish I had a bucket load of info to give you, but I am sure you know more than I do most likely. Hope you are well and you are invited to look at my tree at any time and point out errors should you ever find one. Would love to hear from you if there is anyone you would like for me to check into. I would be more than happy to help you as well. Lester Van Huss

Petty Descendants
James, I am Lester Van Huss and am a descendant of the Petty line on my Mothers side of the family. I have no idea if we share any relation or not, but every chance I get is an opportunity to find out more about my Petty side of the family. My Grandfather never spoke much about his family and it makes research a little difficult sometimes. He as well died shortly before I turned 5 years old so all I have and go on is what I've heard or fortunately found out for myself. I do not know if you have a family tree set up but would like to know if any of the names I am fixing to give you fall into your tree should you have one. My lineage Which I am fairly certain of starting with my Grand father and moving back - William Alfred Petty # 80611272 son of Isaac Daniel "Dan" Petty # 80611157 son of Jeptha Petty and Martha Ellis. I cannot be sure but many references show that Jeptha Petty's father was Stephen Decatur Petty. If any of these are possibly in your family line I would appreciate contacting you and learning more. Thank you for you time, Lester.

RE: locating grave of great grandmother
That is great news! I am so addicted to all this family ancestry. Never dreamed it would lead me to family still alive.
