I'd like to see more info added to the site for my Grandmother, subject above.
Just found the write up for her "find a grave" and it only shows one daughter (Dorothy) when in fact, she had four, my Mom was the oldest and is buried in a plot adjacent to hers. If you'll email me, I can give you the additional info on Mama (Sue Roper Chapman) and will find out the exact dates of births and deaths for the other two sisters who were twins (Mary and Margaret).
On several sites, I'm seeing errors. One is that She died in Asheville, not Polk County where she's buried. Also her first hubby, Luther Roper wasn't born in 1832 but in 1882. I've tried for many years to get this corrected to no avail. If you can't help, hope you'll direct me to someone who can. Thank you so much. My email is email@example.com
|Donald A. Warner||Daniel Blythwood Stroud tombstone|
I found a rather large picture of a memorial to a lost child that is dedicated to the wife form the husband. Behind this picture was found a small tin type photo of the child, Talmage Stroud, which had not turned out well. So an artist had penciled in facial features. It is my desire to find a descendant that would have an interest in saving these documents for posterity.An Estate Sales participant bought a large picture “back east" and brought it to Newburg, Oregon. He sold it to an antique store, where I took up a conversation with the owner. When I mentioned that my Grandmother was Myra Maude Stroud, he stopped me to retrieve this picture of a memorial to a young son, who had passed away. It was dedicated to the wife from the husband. I bought it in hopes of finding a descendant who would have an interest in preserving these important documents. The picture denotes:
“In Loving Remembrance of
Our Little Babe,
Died Mar. 12, 1884;
Aged 3 Years, 5 Months.
Presented to Mrs. A.E Stroud nee Barton
by her husband, D.B. Stroud, 1 Nov. 1, 1898
A bud the Gardener gave us,
A pure and loving child,
He gave it to our keeping,
to cherish undefiled,
But just as it was opening,
to the glory of the day,
Down came the heavenly Gardener
And took our bud way.
The following information is what I have been able to determine.
A. E Barton was Nancy Elizabeth Barton (1851 - 1936), D.B. Stroud was Daniel Blythwood Stroud (1854 - 1929) They had 5 siblings; Thomas Spurgeon Stroud (1880 - 1974), Talmage Stroud (1882 - 1885), Ellison Cleveland Stroud (1886 - 1962), George Thurman Stroud (1888 - 1922), Alfred Broadus Stroud (1891 - 1988)
John and Eliza Gibson Stroud had 8 siblings; Samuel James Stroud (1847 - 1924), Adolphus D. Stroud (1850 - 1929), Willis Thomas Stroud (1852 - 1914), Daniel B. Stroud (as noted above), Mary Elizabeth Stroud Fowler (1856 - 1918), Lecil P. Stroud (1859 - 1822), John Fleming Stroud (1861 - 1937), Robert Pinkney Stroud (1863 - 1902)
Behind this picture was a small portrait of a very young Talmage. The tin type was not very discerning, so an artist highlighted his facial features.
The family lived in Tigerville, Greenwood County, South Carolina, USA
Can you direct me to any resources that would reveal Daniel B. Stroud's family tree, that I can explore to identify prospective buyers for these important documents.
Memorial #50341476 Otto Ray and memorial #50341816 Mary Ray. They are my grandparents. Please transfer to me.

|Margaret Dillard||Barnett, Lucinda|
I have corresponded with you beefore and appreciate your wealth of knowledge.
I am a descendant of Lucinda Barnett Sanders but I am having difficulty finding proof of her parents. I need this to complete my app to Colonial Dames XVIIC. Do you know of any written source of proof? I plan to use the documents published by Dr. James Reid explaining how he reached his conclusions if I cannot find a Bible, letter, or something of proof.
All is there but I cannot prove who the children of JoRoyal may be. We know but need proof.
I have ordered a DNA kit for a cousin of mine who is a Sanders descendant. Hopefully she will have a Barnett gene. If not, I may have to find a BArnett.
