Bio and Links
Bio Photo Hello friends,
My name is Jean-Louis Vijgen from the Netherlands.
I,m 58 years and living near the American, Cemetery and Memorial Margraten in the most southern part of Holland.
I,m a amateur researcher to soldiers died and buried in the U.S. and other parts of the world in the WW2.
I had adopted some graves from the American War Cemetery's in Holland and Belgium, then MS came in my life so had to let them go.
But blood is thicker then water so still researching those heroes, and place them now on a page on Facebook to give the crosses a face and name and story.
With (Big) help from the States, Rolland Swank from Michigan for the Air Force Soldiers and Terry Hirsch from Indiana for the Parents and Siblings and more Info about the Soldiers.

Thank you for the info. The site has been updated. I actually have the death notification letter that was delivered by the War Department, which includes info relating to the train accident. Catherine is my mother.

RE: Tec5. Alfred H. Afflerbach
Hello, Mr. Vijgen. I am very distantly related to Corporal Afflerbach. My 2xgr-grandfather was Johann Heinrich Afflerbach who emigrated from Erndtebrueck, Arnsberg, Westphalia to DeWitt County Texas in 1852. You can find his memorial on Find A Grave in my Virtual Cemetery called "Robert Jacob Family." I would be very much interested in viewing your research when you are finished. I thank you very much for contacting me. Vielen Dank.

RE: SSgt. Eugene H. Allen
I am sorry to say that I don't know any more about him. The SS-2 means he was the recipient of 2 Silver Stars and the PH indicates Purple Heart.
