RE: Phillip Keil
Hi, Karen, good to hear from you! Your grandmother, Lena, would have been my aunt since she was Phillip's sister. I did not know her since my parents divorced when I was only 3 years old and that was 74 years ago. Your great-grandparents were Peter and Elizabeth Keil. Peter was born in Germany and Elizabeth was born in Russia, but my guess is that she was German also since that was her first language. Peter died in the 1950s but I do not know when Elizabeth died, but it may have been before Peter passed. I think he most likely died of polycystic kidney disease -- a hereditary disease that took the life of my father, his brother John, and perhaps other siblings of whom I'm unaware. It is not a gender-specific disease but the Keils that I'm aware of who either have it or had it are/were all males. Exactly one year ago this month, I made contact with my first cousin, that I have not seen since I was three years old and he was nine years old, and he has the disease (and is on dialysis three days a week) and his two sons also have it but it has not yet caused them serious problems -- but, of course, it will if they live long enough. I wish that I could provide you with more information on your great-grandparents (my grandparents) but neither John nor I have much information on them. I would love to hear from you -- do you still live in Kansas?? Take care! Lois

Karen...you didn't give me your number so I don't know where to transfer Nellie Rapp. Transfers actually work best if you just get into the site for Nellie Rapp, go to edit, then make your request.
