Bio and Links
Bio Photo This was my dog and best buddy, Ralph. He crossed the bridge in November 2009 at the age of 16-1/2 years. Besides being his "mom," mom to two humans and grandma to seven little ones, and mom to three scampering cats (Shelby Foote, The Artful Dodger and Shadow) and another dog (Ivy), I recently received my master's in history (emphasis on 19th century America) at Kent State University. My late husband Dave and I have also always had a fondness for family history and cemeteries. My wish is that every person could find all the graves of their ancestors easily (and wouldn't it be great if they were all marked?), and I think Find A Grave is an excellent way to accomplish this. I also have a special fondness for the out of the way, abandoned, and/or hidden cemetery - makes us wonder how these people were so forgotten. And I feel strongly that ALL veterans need to be remembered, and I find it quite sad when we locate a veteran buried with no stone.

Please feel free to copy any photos I've taken. And please don't hesitate to forward new information to me on any of my memorials and of course, if you are a descendant, I'll be happy to transfer any memorials to you!

Adam Rader
Hi Jan, just wanted to give you a couple pieces of info for Adam Rader. His middle name is Stover and his date of birth is 18 August 1832. He was my 2nd great uncle. What would be your relationship to the Rader's? There are quite a few of them. Mine start in Botetourt County, Va. If you would like any other info that I may have, I will be glad to share.

Thank you,
Donna Booze DiMurro

RE: Family history
Thanks for the information. Do you know if Cordelia ever had any children? I see she was divorced - married name Genovese.

RE: Family history
My step-daughter was Cordelia's niece. My step-daughters mom was Anna Marie Rader's daughter by birth but adopted out at age 1 1/2 in Akron Ohio. So it seems your husband would have been my step daughters uncle. Are there any children from your marriage? She knows very little about her biological family on her mother's side. She does have an uncle in Florida named Richard Miller. Thanks for the prompt response.

Family history
Are you related to the late Cordelia Rader from Ohio. Daughter of Anna Marie Rader?

I am researching this line, and am wondering how you came by the information. Do you have any sources or anything I can copy from you? I think I might be descended from him or a relative, but I'm not sure.

Dearest Jan:

Thank you for such a complete provenance! Yes, of course, I'd love to have a copy of the photograph which you offered. Where do you live? If you are willing to chat I'd be happy to call, we could exchange numbers via e-mail.

Your kinsman,

William Thomas Mefford FAG Memorial# 5241938

Dear Jan:

Do you have the provenance of the tintypes you posted. I'd like to inquire as to whether you, or Dave might be related to William Thomas Mefford and his family? I'd be more than happy to collaborate, and share with kin.

Warm fraternal regards,

Previous note
The note I sent has your name at the top, but I believe it is from, so please delete if it makes no sense to you. I just realized that it was sent in response to a memorial you must have created, sorry.

Old note about cemetery
Jan/Ken, my partner, Julia Mitchel printed out a note from "Ken" re: a cemetery for our TO DO list. This got packed up in storage, so this is couple year old. I would be glad to try to find it, maybe now, maybe when the veg has died back, BUT, I do not know 1) if it has been imaged and named on Find A Grave, she did not date her note (not like her). I do not want to drive all the way up there to reinvent the wheel, but as a cyclist, I have probably pedalled past these cemeteries unknowingly.
Here is what Ken wrote:
Hi Julia,
I was the one that created the Page for this cemetery from records at the Kentucky Historical Society. I updated the 'location' of the cemetery from the map I copied from the book on Find-a-Grave. The two requests for photos are also the same ones I was trying to find several years ago as they are my Great-Great grandparents. All I know is you take Owenton Roal north from Stamping Ground and turn onto Cedar Road (368), you drive past Snavely Road and about halfway to the Franklin-Scott County line is where the cemetery is located. The Murphy-Wash Cemetery is on the right hand side of the road a short distance according to the map, almost directly across from a cemetery that appears to be next to the left hand side of the road. I don't know the name of this cemetery as I was only interested in the Murphy-Wash Cemetery when I was copying the map. Wish I had copied the whole book. Would appreciate it if you could look for the cemetery again when you have the chance. I plan on looking for it again the next time I am in Kentucky... Thanks in advance!
