My husband Gary and I have recently taken early retirement, leaving more time for things we enjoy, including genealogy.|
We live in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa and try to help others with Iowa research.
If you see names or dates that need to be corrected, or can help identify some of our unknown stones, please feel to email me so I can correct the online records. We have transcribed the stones to the best of our ability.

|Judy Banks||Alfred Hankerson|
Hi Brenda, I'm sorry that I just found your message. Somehow there are two Contributor pages set up under my name and this one doesn't have a way for anyone to contact me.
No, I'm not related to Alfred. My first husband's mother was Sadie Hankerson, sister of Alfred.
|Patricia Schmitz||Swett family|
Hello, my name is Patricia Schmitz. Helen Nichols born 1894 in Iowa and died 1981 Florida
was the daughter of William Nichols and Sarah Dwyer. I have them listed in my family tree. I have listed Helen M Nichols and Lyle M Swett as having 3 children. Lyle M Swett, Helen Jeanne Swett and Mary June Swett.
Sarah Dwyer was an Aunt of my fathers. I have been working on this tree for several years. Sarah parents were Timothy Dwyer and Mary Agnew Dwyer.
Would you be able to help me at all with this family? I sure would appreciate it.
|Andrew L.||RE: William D. Bennett|
My Mother's Mother was a Bennett, but from the Adirondacks in NY, you can see their pages in my virtual cem. "Ancestral burial grounds"
|Paul R||Francis Bennett|
The foot/head was in the Bennett family plot. I made the assumption that the last name is Bennett. He may not be related or the last name may not be Bennett but I try to put all information I have so someone else may connect the dots.

You asked where Canada came from as being his place ob birth. It came from his Michigan death information. Whoever gave the information could have been wrong. If it is let me know and I will change it. I will try to find more information in the meantime.
|Valarie Vine||Cedar Memorial Park|
I have a great uncle, Eugene Morse (1898-1981) who is buried at Cedar Memorial Park (Cedar Rapids, Linn County, IA). I only met him a couple times when I was young and we went to Santa Catalina island off of California. I added an entry for him some years ago on findagrave and happily someone added a photo of his marker at the cemetery. Small world!
|Valarie Vine||Leon Harbaugh lineage|
I took a look at the Harbaugh History (published 1947) and Leon's lineage. Beyond his father Henry Harbaugh to his grandfather John Albert Harbaugh, there was a great grandfather Thomas Harbaugh (the entry at Brown Cemetery in Colesburg, IA has his named entered as "Thos Harbough" which makes it difficult to find him, but that is how it is engraved on his stone). Thomas was married to a Mary Blackburn in 1831 and had many children. Thomas was a twin to Samuel (born in 1806). Thomas' father (John Harbaugh b. 1791) and aunt (Sophia) were dropped off by their parents in Bedford County, PA, perhaps due to illness. The parents never returned perhaps being killed by Indians or beset by some other circumstance. John and his sister were raised by a kind family, the Griffiths. John married Rachel Hammond and became the parents of nine children, Thomas being one of them, and a twin, being born 9/19/1806. - By the way I requested a connection of Thomas and Mary Harbaugh to John Albert Harbaugh.
Hope this helps on the Harbaugh side of things.
