"Captain Huthcraft Dies Leading Charge Against Hun Machine Gun Nest"

Captain Hutchcraft lead a charge on a machine gun nest after discovering the enemy were beastly drunk.
He traveled a straight line where he was killed twenty feet from the gunners nest.

He was a faculty member of the College of Law where he encourage all men to "Give until it hurt". Somebody in the great crowd asked Hutchcraft, "What are you willing to give?" "I have pitifully little to offer," he replied, quite calmly, " a little money and my life."

Note: I am not related I just found his story and wanted to honor this brave man.

Nannie Hutchcraft and Daniel Stuart
Hi Gail, I see you posted on this page about the circumstances of Daniel's death. Is there more information? Clippings? Are you on Ancestry.com? This has long been a family legend, but I never knew it to be true till I saw your posting. My grandfather is David, their orphaned son.
Thanks for any further info or leads!

You submtted his obit in 2008 with typist notes "undocumented" in IOOF Mcleansboro Cemetery. The notes listed his mother and father. Do you know where that information came from?

Stroh's/Dalton's
Hi Gail, so your Grandfather & My Great~Grandmother are brother & Sister?!
Well hello Cousin! It's a small world after all! This searching for Family is incredibly enlightening, at every corner there is more!
So now I have found you have my Great Aunt Esther, she was the first one (of our family) that I remember, doing Family Tree Research. I posted a couple of scans from her work on the Dalton's & Stroh's family tree.
Would you please transfer Aunt Esther over to me also? I have some info. to fill in and can find out from her son whatever I need to finish. Her husband was "Cleo" Swaney, a great guy, loved to fish the river & lake near their home in Wis. he gave me a couple of hand tied fly/jigs when I was there visiting. He should be buried right next to Esther, I have put in a photo request for both. Again Thank You Very Much for Your Consideration,
Sincerely, Ron
