Sgt Larry Wayne Barnard
Mr. Gentry, I hope you don't mind, I added Sgt. Barnard to my Vietnam Virt. Cem. which I flower every day.
My son Maddux served in Vietnam. He came home only to die in 1998 so those Men are special to me.

TSgt William Gentry #356289984
Good Afternoon,

I saw you had posted some flowers on this memorial 7 years ago and thought you might be related - or at least interested - in Sgt. Gentry's history. Take a look at his memorial now and you can get an idea of what happened to him if you don't already know.

william Gentry
Captain William Gentry was commander of "The Dude" which was a B-24D Liberator Bomber based in the Phillipines. My father William R. Roedel was a ground crew chief on "The Dude". The nose art was painted by my father in tribute to William Gentry. He looked a lot like Clark Gable so my dad painted a top hat, cane and gloves on the plane. The plane was a two tour bomber until it was sent back to the states for a nose turret modification. William Gentry was killed flying a mercy mission in a Douglas SBD. My father always told me what a great pilot he was and how nice he was to the ground crew. He and my dad would do a trick where my father would route all the fuel from one wingtip tank to all four engines and then they would start them up. My dad was the only one in the unit who could do it, Gentry always got a big kick out of it.

I hope this helps your search.
