RE: James and Elizabeth Dixon

Thanks for the quick replies.

It appears the unmarried son James pretty well eliminates these folks as ancestors. My ancestor James M Dixon was born 1809, so would have been, likely, of the same generation - doubtful they would have named two sons James.

If you come across any relations of James and Elizabeth who arrived in the area about this time, especially if they have a son James, I would be interested to pursue the lead.

Many of my ancestors arrived in Fayette Co via western VA and some via Greene and Washington counties. Since they seem to travel in packs, hidden there somewhere likely is the ancestor I need to find. Other families are Springers, Hunsakers (many spellings), Finley and Hatfield. Some arrived very early, ie ~1760-70 time period. Much history with these folks!

James and Elizabeth Dixon

I am writing in hope that you may be able to shed some light on my ancestor.

I am descended from James M Dixon (1809 PA, 1876, Wharton Twp, Fayette Co, PA) and Lucy (Springer) Dixon. I have made no firm connections to parents for James, but have suspected they may be James and Elizabeth Dixon of East Finley Twp, Washington Co, PA.

Do you have any information that might support this, or lead me in a more productive direction.

Harold Alden Hill, Sr photo
Greetings Sue. I think you may have added a beautiful photo of Harold Alden Hill, Sr to the wrong memorial. Currently there are 2 memorials for him, but I believe the one of him in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery might be incorrect.

According to a military headstone application submitted by his wife Letha in 1931, he is buried in the Creel (aka Davisville) cemetery, memorial # 68651223. There is a headstone photo of him & his wife Letha on this memorial and it matches the records.

The Harold Hill who is buried in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery # 30211243 might actually be Harold Hill who died 9 Dec 1907 in Lubeck district, age 4 years 8 months, the son of Jennie Hill. Lubeck district's border is very close to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. There is a headstone photo for this memorial, but all that is on the headstone is the name Harold Hill.

You may want to put his photo on the correct memorial # 68651223.

If you have any questions let me know.
