You're quite welcome! There happens to be another Jacob Sherman interred nearby - the date of his death was 12/20/37 and he was 53 years old. Any relation to your Jacob Sherman?

I located his crypt and will be posting a photo later today but I wanted to tell you that the death date on his memorial does not match the cemetery's records. Their records show that he died in July, not June. Of course the cemetery records could be wrong. Jim

It's an unusual name, so easy to spot in the cemeteries. The Jewish cemeteris are legion and all back-to-back, so I expect to find a number more. New Haven apparently has had a thriving Jewish community for a long time! If I see the last name, I'll photograph it.

very dark where he was. No Bawarsky next to him.

Hi! I forgot to tell you that the "Lom" in the grave location should actually be "Lomzer" per the cemetery map.
A picture of the gate is at the following link, but it has deteriorated since the photos were taken, and the building is now gone.

Hi! Photos posted.
The broken photograph at the top of the memorial is actually detached. I was able to balance it in place for the photos. On the back it is marked as having been made by J. A. DeDouch of Oak Park, IL. The company has been acquired by PSM of Canada. They may be able to supply a replacement photograph. Website:
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this information. I did take several other photos including close-ups of both the back and front of the broken monument photograph.

Hi! In regards to your photo requests, can you please call the cemetery or submit a grave location request online and obtain the grave location (Gate, Section & Lot Numbers) and ask them whether or not there is a grave marker? Please post this information to the Find A Grave memorials.
Waldheim Cemetery: (708) 366-4541
Online submission: http://www.waldheimcemetery.com/SiteContent/Locate-Family-Grave/
Waldhim Jewish Cemetery is a huge consolidated group of cemeteries with over 150,000 burials, and the information is needed in order to find a grave and take a photograph.
Thank you, Ace
