John Gilbert Mason (#61966638)
Your memorial list his burial as unknown. He's buried in Summit Lawn Cemetery, Clay County, Indiana beside his wife, Goldie Mason. They don't have a headstone, but I did post a photo showing the location. Confirmed by the owner/caretaker.

George and Susan Harvey
I went to the Liberty Cemetery today with the former custodian of the grave yard. He is 94 years old and has been taking care of it for many many years. He has copies of all the existing paperwork in his possession, but gave copies of this paperwork to the new custodian of it which happens to be the township trustee.

He is mentally very sharp and if you want to talk to him his name is Charles T. Ross He told me to give out his phone number which I will do if you email me and ask me for it.

His records show no record of a George or Susan Harvey, which means nothing because the records he inherited from this graveyard were incomplete when he got them.

He estimates there are 1500 people buried there yet his records and findagrave's records say there are less than 700 people in that graveyard.

That land is owned by the local community as it is a former WWII military base. and was given to the city of Columbus by the government in the late 60's.

The cemetery was vandalized several times and fixed up several times. It is considered abandoned and is fenced and locked but that doesn't keep the vandals out.

In addition, the graves are not in line and the lawn mowers frequently run into the grave markers and break them. Many of the markers are illegible due to age, but a few years ago, the McQueen family (relatives of Steve the actor) spent all summer working on the stones, soaping them so they can read them and documenting them for the curator which was Charlie Ross listed above.

I am sure there is no head stone or the McQueen family would have documented it. As George died in 31 during the depression and there was no money then, he probably had no head stone. His wife died in 43 but probably with no family here to put up a headstone, or money for that matter.

Alternative to that theory there is a very near old cemetery known as "flat rock Baptist that is still adding people to its collection and is probably only a half a mile away. However you seem really sure it is the liberty graveyard so I will assume you are right on that.

I will do anything you ask of me, but at this time I am at a dead end.

Except I need to give you my email address so you can contact me instead of going through Findagrave.

Paul Dallis McCarty and John David McCarty
Well, that makes us "kin" then, right? Thank you for the transfer of the boys' memorial pages. The Groseclose Reunion is still held every August in Martinsville; and in case you're interested, the National Groseclose Reunion is held every 3 years and is coming up again this year at Pipestem State Park in West Virginia --- the first part of June. I don't know if you've ever attended it; but we went 3 years ago, and it was interesting to hear all the history and to be able to go through our Great, Great, Great Grandfather Henry's home in Ceres, VA.
Thanks again! Sharon Colmone

Memorials: #50935518 and #50935517
My name is Sharon (McCarty) Colmone. Paul Dallis (actually Dallas--it was misspelled on the gravestone) McCarty and John David McCarty were my brothers. They were born before I came along, and died as infants---Paul at 2 months, and John was stillborn. Our parents are Rev. Clarence Cruse McCarty (buried in Bluff Creek Cemetery also) and Ivanelle McCarty (still living). Since I'm not able to add bio to the boys' memorial pages, listing their parents and siblings (there's a few of us), I was wondering if you could add information to the boys' memorial pages or possibly transfer their memorial pages to me. I'm hoping to get their memorials linked with other family pages (especially my father's). Thank you for your help.

I apologize for what looks to be a smudge in the far left of the picture behind the stone. In reality, there is a large, plastic water tank right behind it. It didn't look so hot I retouched it out real quick to keep it from detracting from the picture. I did it quick and didn't do a great job.
