Three Daingerfield graduates: a county judge, a college professor, and an auditor were honored as distinguished alumni for outstanding professional achievement by the Daingerfield Alumni Association Sept. 22, 2012.

This year's honorees included Rod Carnahan, a 1958 graduate; Arthur David Sloan, a 1964 graduate, and Lynda Forrest Munkres, a 1966 graduate.

Nominations came from Daingerfield alumni, and honorees were selected by a committee from the association.

Born in McKeesport, Pa., Mr. Carnahan came to Daingerfield and finished his elementary and high school years. He graduated from Kilgore College in 1960 and graduated from East Texas State University-Commerce in 1963. He earned a law degree from LaSalle University in Chicago in 1973. He was the accountant for United Gas in Gladewater, relocating to Jacksonville Division Office Engineering Dept. and later promoted to internal auditor for the entire East Texas & Beaumont Divisions. He retired in 1999 from Centerpoint Energy.

In 1980 he purchased the oldest real estate firm in Jacksonville and had a sales staff operate it while he worked at Entex Gas. He has been very involved in civic clubs in Jacksonville, including Civitan and Jaycees, and has received several awards for community service. He and his wife Shirley have been married since 1964.

Repeat memorial
Greetings Findagrave Admin,

I recently took over the findagrave.com memorial for tsbvi student Fred Lowery (19322070) from Bernard Trigg, who created the page in 2007. A couple years later, Rod Carnahan created a repeat (below) Fred Lowery memorial (44029666) that violates findagrave.com rules. He also copied and pasted the biography of Trigg's original memorial. I would appreciate it if you deleted Mr. Carnahan's repeat memorial (44029666), so Fred Lowery fans are only directed to my original page. Thank you.

Could you please remove the obit that you posted in the "flower" section on his memorial? I have already placed in the bio section all the information that can be placed on the memorial.
We are not to add survivors, for obvious privacy issue reasons, on memorials per FindaGrave.
Thank you
Tricia

Rod,

I was glad to learn your daughter owns Fred and Grace Lowery's home. Thanks for leaving the flowers and note.

Mr. Carnahan - Are you a family member of Sandra Dixon, or did you receive permission from the family to list the full obit (including survivors) in your post to the memorial? If so, please let me know and I'll revise and cite your relationship or permission status. If neither, please refer to Find A Grave guidelines ("Can I Add An Obituary To My Interment Listing?") which prohibit posting the survivors without family permission. Also, I intentionally do not post the birth/death dates and locations in the bio as it would be redundant to what already appears in the upper portion of the memorial page.

May I have your permission to use copies of the Godfrey headstone photos in my tree on Ancestry? I will give you credit for the photos. Thank you for photographing and posting them to Find A Grave.

In that cemetery you would have spent all your time bent over and brushing in that case ... many, many, flat markers here are under six inches of sand, dirt, debris, and mud. That is why another contributor only did the upright markers, they didn't want to clean the flat ones, far too much trouble.

Note: its a perpetual care cemetery, its not my place to clean the markers, and its against rules to mess with another persons family plots. The photos I did take were, on one occasion, being watched by a policeman that was on the property at the time.

And FYI I do have a brush. Just can't use it here.
