Yes, this stone was already there. It was not a new one. This cemetery is about 12 miles north of Vinita on the top of a hill in someone's pasture. Some people were nice enough to let us cross their pastures to get to it. A rancher that owns the land the road was on fenced it off so we had to walk quite a ways. It is so overgrown and many of the stones have fallen over. Apparently the last person buried there was back in the 1950's and the man that took care of the cemetery died about 40 years ago and no one has kept it up. On our first trip we couldn't fight our way through the blackberry vines to find too many graves. We went back in the fall and trimmed these vines back around several graves and stood some of them back up. Some stones were buried under dirt and we uncovered them and washed them off. My cousin and I plan to go back but it probably won't be until fall when the ticks, bugs, and snakes are gone for the season. Each one we uncovered we photographed to post and will continue each time we go back. If there is someone else you may have buried there we will be sure to look for them.
