Mahan Site - no markers
Ruth, Thanks so much for taking the time to try and find my grandparents' markers in St. John's Cemetery. I really appreciate your effort. I am surprised to know there's no marker. If you would post the photos you took, though, of the grave sites, I would appreciate that. If you can't post them, can you send them to me directly? I'd like to have them somehow. thanks, again, Mary Ann Keith

Thank you so much for taking the photo of his gravestone. And with a photo on it - amazing! I believe that photo is the first my husband's family will have of their direct ancestor. I really appreciate it. Thanks again.

Ruth, I am sorry if I offended you, that wasn't my intention. I didn't think you knew. I don't send a correction or an edition unless I am sure of it.
I hope we can remain friends. Sincerely, Kaye

Thank you very much for the correction.

Ruth, the rules for Find A Grave on last name says, "Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field." Kaye Harkins McClintock

RE: James, Martha & Sarah Penny
Hi Ruth,

Thanks for getting back to me and sorry about your knee....knee pain is so hard, I hope you get better soon.

If you look at the Bettis Cemetery page you will see that I just added a photo of the cemetery location. I actually went out there in April with the new owner. Really nice guy and he drove me out to the cemetery in his ATV! You're right it is a long walk out there through the fields. The only problem when I was there....it was spring time and it was completely overgrown under the trees with vines so we weren't able to get good photos. I asked him to let me know when it's not so overgrown and I may go back and get better photos.

Thanks again and Happy 4th of July!

Rebecca

Ruth,

The display coordinates are rounded, but the cooridinates store are correct. I tried the coordinates and using Google Maps they will get you to the correct area in the cemetery. The Google Maps program wants to keep you on the roads and doesn't give you the straight line route to the stone.

I will look at the numbers. Sometimes the numbers will be rounded by the find a grave site.
