Bio and Links
I was born Nov. 2, 1934 in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, La., the son of Oliver Oscar Thompson and Emma Lee Bagwell. My father worked in a lumber mill in Shreveport. I graduated from Byrd High School in 1952, received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from La. Tech Univ. in 1956 and a Master's Degree in electrical engineering from Ohio State Univ. in 1960.
I married Bettie Maurine Moore on Aug. 21, 1955. She is the daughter of Lizzie Ola Gilbert and Cleveland Lafayette Moore. Bettie was born Jan. 13, 1934 in Jonesboro, Jackson Parish, La., where she grew up. She graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1952. She received a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics education from La. Tech Univ. in 1955 and taught mathematics for sixteen years in Quitman, LA, Fairborn, OH and Wichita, KS.
I served in the Air Force for three years as a research engineer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio and received an honorable discharge in 1960.
In 1960, I accepted a job as an engineer with Boeing in Wichita, Ks. After 35 years with Boeing, I retired in 1965. During all of these years, I worked in Wichita, except for a three-year assignment in Huntsville, Al. on the Saturn-Apollo space program.
Bettie and I have three children, 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
We are active members of Central Christian Church in Wichita.
We enjoy genealogy, as a hobby, and are interested in the following family lines: Anders, Bagwell, Bailey, Culpepper, Gentry, Gilbert, McBride, Moore, Tate and Thompson. Our family tree is on under the name, "Thompson-Bagwell-Moore-Gilbert."

Photos of William H. Thompson
Hello. May I have permission to share photos on my Facebook page? I'm new to all this and want to be considerate of other's work. I'm new to genealogy research but have research done by grandparents and am continuing that research in this modern internet age.

William H. Thompson is my GG-Grandfather via my grandmother Gladys Thompson Baker. Her father is Thomas J. Thompson, son of William H.

Thank you. Brenda Cooley. My email is

RE: Stringer cemetery
I can only assume they were neighbors. The cemetery is very small and on the sideyard of an existing home in a cul-de-sac (Stringer Road). Possibly, the Gilberts and McBrides lived close by.

J.W. Gilbert
Glenn, thank you to you and your wife Bettie for the obit for Mr. Gilbert. I did not know him, but did know Mr. Orlan and his wife Ruby. I am kin (but further back!) through the McBrides (my grandmother was Mildred Leslie McBride Stinson Meredith) who got me hooked on genealogy.
I haven't been back to Jonesboro in about a year, but it is nice to hear from someone from there.
If you would like Mr. J.W.'s memorial transferred I will be glad to!

Thanks so much for the parental link information. I would be happy to transfer his memorial to your care, if you wish.

RE: Mike Moore

I looked at the photo of Michael Moore plaque. I know there was some confusion concerning the correct cemetery, but I have to tell you that the plaque on his grave is not one that Westlawn uses. There is only one section that has any plaques remotely similiar to the plaque shown, and that is in the Terrace section of Westlawn. I went there yesterday to make sure and he is not there.

The plaque shown is the type used by Restlawn in Avondale. The office for Restlawn is located in Gretna, but that is only the office. That is the main listing in findagrave (Restlawn Memorial Park).

I will go to Restlawn this weekend to see if I can positively locate his grave.
