RE: Nettie Murphy Watson
Good to hear from you again. Nettie and William S./George were my ggggrandparents on my dad's side. So I guess you and I are half cousins. If I can find out any earlier info on Nettie, I'll let you know. :) Allecia

RE: Nettie Murphy Watson
I've got the 1880 census you mentioned. I've also have the 1870 census where they are living in Randolph County AL. Anthony is 23, Genette is 26, and George S is 8. He is listed as a Watson instead of McClain in this one.
In the 1860 Census Anthony (15) is listed with James and Louiza W Watson in also in Randolph County. And in 1850 they are in Coweta, GA. Anthony is 3.
The other info that I have found is from Ancestry-"Alabama, Select Marriages, 1816-1957"
showing William S. Mclain and N.A. Watson and child, George S. Mclain.
And the Marriage record (Cleburne County, AL) of George S. McLain and M. J. Smith (my great grandparents)on Oct 8, 1882 contented by Wm S McLain and A. C. and N.A. Watson. (So, my guess is that Nettie and William were divorced, but friendly?)
Haven't got anything on William S after 1882 so far.
George and Janie Mcclaine are on the 1900 and 1910 census at White Plains, AL; then 1920 census they lived in Lincoln, AL. George died in 1926 and Janie in 1935. Both are buried at Hall's Cemetery in Lincoln.[On the Alabama Deaths, George's father is listed as George instead of William and his mother is Nancy]. I haven't talked with any of their folks yet. Hopefully, I will be able to solve the mystery soon. I'll let you know what I find.
Thank you for responding. It's great contacting kinfolk we haven't met! :) Allecia

Hey DoodleBug,
My name is Allecia McClain Mullins. Nettie Watson was my great grandfather, George McClain's mother. I have very little info on her and even less on George's father, William S. McClain. Hoping you might be able to help me out with info on Nettie.
Allecia, your long lost cuz!

DoodleBug, Just a short note to see if you know who the other John Higgins is, at Forest Hills, have you heard of another in the family? Was wondering if he could of been one of the sons of William's brother. Hoping to have time to visit the grave of John Franklin's brother William M. We are heading to Tennessee for a few days to take photos of some of mine and Rays family so will be out of touch for a couple of days. Sent you Blessings Darlene

Hi Dale ,keeping you posted. I delivered the headstones for John Franklin and Alice today, they will be installed this Friday. Then we will be off to deliver the last two. We are worn out but, feel just wonderful about this whole adventure. I will get a photo of them in place to you as soon as I can. I'm out of touch most places I go but will get back to you. Think I found the real burial place of Johns brother William, but need to go see for myself before I put it out there. Blessings to you, Darlene
