Hi, I'm the daughter of John McDonald, the granddaughter of your Aunt Jo Allie Harris Metts McDonald. Thank you for all of the research you have collected. I too, am interested in our family genealogy. I haven't seen your mom in @20 yrs. Hope she is well. Always thought she was pretty cool.

J. M. Day marker at Rehoboth cemetery
Went to Rehoboth last Sat. 25 July. Looking for J.M. Day marker. Could not locate it. See you photographed it in 2012. Fully intact with Mason symbol at top of marker. It's not there or I could not locate it. I found a marker with top half broken off. No name. Dates appeared to be the same as in your picture. But, had a praying hands piece laying beside it. Where was the J.M. Day marker in cemetery. One I found was in from front gate about middle of cemetery and slightly to right of gate. Had marker close to it (straight in from gate) Thelma Cockrell. Her marker sat at an angle. Not straight with the others. Your 2012 picture was very clear and all info on it was legible. Possible someone knocked marker down???

Jacob Gibson Hart
His parents were John Hart from NC and Angelina Curry from MS. I have yet to find where they are buried. Their last child was my gr grandmother Letha Ann Hart who later married Thomas M. Maddux. She was born in 1843 in Mississippi. I can't find them on the 1850 census and then in 1860 Letha shows up living with her brother Jacob Gibson Hart in Bossier Parish, LA. In 1870 she's living with her Uncle Peter Curry in Claiborne Parish, LA. She married Maddux in 1875 and in 1880 they're in Shreveport, Caddo Parish, LA. My grandfather Joseph Marmaduke Maddux, was born in 1882. By 1890 Letha appears on the special census for veterans and their widows and there's obviously no mention of Thomas Maddux. I can't locate a death for him either - just family rumors which seem to haunt the Harts and Curry's. Letha died and is buried in El Paso, TX. All her death cert says is her father was a Hart and her mother a Curry.

RE: Grave Photo Request
Thank you so much for allowing me to use your photos!!

In regards to family in ARK and OK.

My great grandfather was Francis Marion Cox who by 1870 was living in Scott County, Ark. A few years later I believe it became Logan County. He was one of 11 children, 3 of which died in childhood, some married and stayed in Ark while some returned to Texas where they had lived before moving to AR.

He and wife Nancy Jane Harp had 13 children, 5 of which died by age 18.
Of the remaining, my grandmother Bertha Mabel Cox married a Mallie Harwood Craig who was born and grew up in Sebastian County near LaVaca. Bertha was grandpa Craig's second wife and my grandmother, his first wife was a "Little" and at the time of marriage was living in Sebastian Co. They had 4 children, 3 of which lived until adulthood. Bertha and Mallie lived in Haskell County Oklahoma where 9 more children were born, 3 of which died in infancy. My mother Ella Mae was born in 1922 in or near Hoyt, Haskell, OK.
My mother and all of her siblings and 1/2 siblings are now deceased. Mother's siblings married into Moreland (2), Clayton, Wickersham, Green and Hamlin (2) families that I think were from around there, while my mother married a NE boy she met in DC during the 1940s.

Whole lot of other names that Cox and Craig siblings married into.

Do any of these connect with your families or family friends and acquaintenances?

Cynthia, Are you researching the Hart family? My great grandmother was Jacob Gibson Hart's sister.

Andrew J. Harris
Hi Cynthia; Thank you for your many contributions to Findagrave. Your memorials to the Harris family, in Montgomery Co., Texas have been extremely helpful in my research of the extended Davis family. You seem to have made an error when you requested that Andrew J. Harris (Find A Grave#41213018) be attached to John Wesley and Lydia Jane Harris. Andrew J. Harris was born in 1838 and died in 1896; thus he could not be their son. I believe that, Jack Harris, Find A Grave#11514223 is the person who should be linked to them. If you have any interest in my Davis research, contact me: I freely share.
