Bio and Links
To know where you are going, you have to know where you came from.
Behind each gravestone is a story that needs
to be told.

My goal is create Virtual Cemeteries of Marines that served with the various companies of 2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
That each Virtual Cemetery will include the company name and every Marine that died in Vietnam, listed with the company they served. That each Marine will include a short bio where possible,or as information is being gathered.
If anyone knows,or has info related to any of my Marines, please forward it to me.You are welcome to add any photos of that Marine that you may have.
Also,I will accept memorial transfers of Marines that served with the various companies that you made have and would like to transfer to me.
A big thank-you to those of you who have kindly transferred memorials to me and taken photos.Very much appreciated.
Served in Vietnam during 1969 with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
Echo 2/3 website.www.echo23marines 6569.org

Since I have come across several soldiers that served in the Army and died in Vietnam without bios, I have decided to attempt and work on those Army memorials as I come across them. They deserve to be remembered.

RE: Gorbert Family Ranch
Tony,
First, I believe the name is "Gorbet" -- I attended school in Greenville and knew some Gorbet's, also Timmons. A quick search turned up this obit for another person related to Timmons:
"Funeral services for William Dennis Carmelo, 22, who was killed in an automobile accident on Wednesday south of Greenville, will be held at the Indian Mission Church in Greenville on Sunday at 1 p.m. with interment following in the Gorbet family cemetery in Greenville under the direction of the Rouland Funeral Chapel. The deceased was born in Santa Anna on May 21, 1951, and had been employed by the Stoney Logging Co. of Greenville as a faller for the past seven years. Surviving are his father, Daniel C. Carmelo, Sacramento; his mother, Anna M. Carmelo, Greenville; three brothers, Daniel, Long Beach, and Donald and Ronald, Greenville; three sisters, Mary Ann Hoff, Rose A. Carmelo and April R. Carmelo all of Greenville, and grandfather, Wm. Timmons, Greenville, and grandmother, Mary J. Timmons, Redding. [Lassen Advocate Date: Aug. 10, 1973 Submitters Name: Jana Stanley]"

I see his memorial on Findagrave.com
Find A Grave Memorial# 172425983.
My connection to the Greenville Cemetery is because this was my hometown and it had not been surveyed. With two helpers in 2008 we recorded all the names appearing on headstones and posted them online, both on USGenWeb.com for Plumas County and later on Findagrave.com. I was born the same year add Edward Timmons, and it pains me to see so many young men buried in Greenville who fought in Vietnam, many of them former classmates.

If there is anything I can do to help you in your search, my email is quiltmom_sue@yahoo.com. I have access to Ancestry.com and can do searches for you. No charge.

Pam
Thank you
I've updated the two edits you requested, but am waiting for photo volunteers to post the photos requested. In the meantime, any soldiers you find at Cypress Forest Lawn that are not yet included in my virtual cemetery, PLEASE let me know. Trying to get them all documented.

Small world... my Backes cousin also posted to your wall....

Welcome home.

RE: Sarah Corpus
I searched twice and went to the office and they told me where to look and it was where I had already been twice. So I know I was in the right spot but since its been so long ago its possible if there was a marker that its sunk down.
