Your tombstone stands among the rest; Neglected and alone. The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years age
spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.

This is not a branch of the family that I am familiar with... yet.
John and George are names used many times in our line and my Huggins branch originated in Berkley County which is a stones throw from Charleston.
Sounds like this would be worth looking into to see if there was a link. Do you know who Daniel's parents were?
Nancy Lee Huggins
You have always been supportive, thank you!

Thank you so much for the permission and information. James E. Pate is on our list of KIA from WW II and his name was read at our Memorial Day program a week ago. I have three newspaper clippings from the Champion newspaper here in Center about his death and would be happy to share if you don't have them. Give me an email to send them to. I try to keep the memories of our veterans alive here in Shelby County. Thanks again.

Virginia I am trying to account for all WW I Veterans in Shelby County, Texas and remember them on their date of death. Mr. Pates is coming up June 10 and I would like to have your permission to use his photo you posted on memorial 42621145. Thanks.

It was my pleasure.

It really depends on who you get. Some are really helpful and some are like the one you got. I think I have probably dealt with the person you spoke with.
I would like to pick up your photo request but Sparkman Hillcrest (SH) does not like to provide burial locations to volunteers, citing privacy issues. Your cooperation is needed in order for requests to be filled. The volunteers will need you to call SH and request the location. Their phone number is 214-363-5401. Once you have the location, please add it to your request. Thanks.
