You are so welcome
I seen he just passed away, and that would surely be a burial that would be fresh in my mind had we buried him.

You Are Awesome!!!
The references for Germany that you have there are so valuable !!! it is very hard to find good places to search for Germany.
Do you have any for Bavaria / Bayern ?

I saw a note you left for Silentwatcher that you were looking for someone... let me know what you have and what you are looking for and I will see what I can come up with.... I have some good resources and some good experienced spirit on my team. I will be happy to share my resources with you as well.

Thanks so much!

Florien Deck #76581587

b g, Thank you for your note regarding Florian’s immigration. Here is some information I had found several years ago. This trip was just a month later than the one you found.

name: Florian Deck
event: Immigration
event date: 16 Nov 1865
event place: New York, New York, United States
gender: Male
age: 23
country of origin or birth: Germany
occupation: Joiner
ship: Bavaria
estimated birth year: 1842
departure port: Hamburg
literacy: Unknown
last residence:
destination: Usa
transit or travel compartment: Staying in the USA [Transit]; Steerage [Travel]
manifest identification number: 00010654
nara publication title: Germans to America Passenger Data file, 1850-1897
arc identifier: 1746067
Citing this Record
"United States, Germans to America Index, 1850-1897," index, FamilySearch ( : accessed 16 Jan 2013), Florian Deck, 1865.

Note that no residence is given. He could have lived anywhere in Germany and since he was supposedly from Baden, I believe the Florien you found has a higher possibility of being our ancestor. I have one question in regard to residence. If the Decks lived in Baden, Baden, Germany in 1700-1800, today it would be (Baden-Württemberg? Note that the occupations of the two men are quite similar, joiner and carpenter. We know for fact that he was a carpenter. The approximate birth date for both men certainly fit Florien. There was talk among older family members that the name was changed from its original form to Deck when Florien arrived here. However, in looking at your file and the various web sites provided, I found that the surname Deck was fairly common. That fact is certainly encouraging in that we possibly do not need to be looking for Florien with a different surname. I just wish he and Margaret had been married with a couple of children when they came over. I could be sure then of what we are looking at.

Thank you for passing along this great informa-tion. Feel free to contact me through my e-mail,

Ocean View Burial Park, owned by Diginity Memorial, is a privately owned cemetery. Dignity Memorial will not give information to a third party, you must be a relative. They feel that they could be sued for release of private information.
If you contact their office (through email) and request their location I would take a photo for you. They would be willing to do a lookup if the request came from a family member. If you cannot figure out your connection, say you are a cousin.

If you want to contact direct:

Once you have the location just enter it into the memorial page and it will show on the photo request.
Thank you,
