Bio and Links
Bio Photo I became interested in our family history as a direct result of the avid interest of my mother and oldest sister. My life has become enriched by this desire to know where I came from. Thanks mom and sis!

I truly enjoy Find A Grave and the Find A Grave community. This growing group of volunteers is so willing to help other researchers!

I am very willing to add to and correct any of the memorials I manage and will do so as quickly as possible. Please help me out by making suggestions through each memorial's EDIT button. This makes it much easier to locate the correct memorial to make the recommended additions and corrections. It will also make certain that I see the request. Requests made through member page messages can get missed.

Thanks much!

FELLOW PHOTOGRAPHERS - the website below has some great tips on photographing headstones, it is a worthwhile read - check it out.

http://www.jillsgenealogy.com/misc/tips-and-tricks/801-headstones-photographing-and-rubbing-information.html

Briefly - some Do's and Don'ts
DO'S:
- do use reflected light to photograph hard to read stones (use a mirror or other reflective surface)
- do get down to eye level with the stone
- do fill the viewfinder with the stone
- do take some close ups and some photos showing the entire stone
- do use only distilled water and soft wood utensil (bamboo or popsicle stick) to gently remove lichens
- do use soft natural bristle brushes

DON'TS:
- don't use chalk, flour, shaving cream, graphite, etc. to read stones (these can damage and/or stain the stone).
- don't do rubbings as the pressure can damage the stone and/or break the stone off
- don't use soaps, vinegar, club soda, bleach, or cleaning solutions of any kind
- don't use wire brushes, sharp metal objects, knives, nail files, etc.

Thanks!

Thank you for your note. Yes, Lucy's maiden name is Haven.....I am sorry I wasn't more clear. Both Lucy and Olive are sisters and my 3rd great aunts as my direct ancestor is an older sister, Polly Haven. They are all daughters of Elijah Haven and Sally Johnson Haven.

Merry Christmas !!!
and thank you, Jenean, more than I know how to express, for all the 'extra miles' you've gone to help make this Find a Grave, "Found a Grave"... Now that winter's set in, it's nothing short of amazing to be going back through all these memorials try'n to work out their family genealogy and see the gravestone icons lined up one after another, keeping me on course. Especially when I'm absolutely frustrated and ready to take up crocheting (at which, like typing and photography, I'm totally inept), it made a difference knowing you were there keeping on.
Cynthia, on her way to the kitchen now

Jenean,

I would probably be quicker if you just made the cenotaph comment in the 'Marker Transcription' box on the memorials. I have request such from Find A Grave before, it happens a lot on Civil War soldier's memorials, and they never seem to get around to doing it!

I will do a paragraph for each bio on your cenotaphs that will link your memorial to the original memorials at Mt Vernon and vice a versus as well. That way the two memorials will be linked.

Thanks
Paul

Thank you, Jenean
Those were some difficult ones. Pretty much throughout sections 31 & 32 but they're all done now except for sorting by plots & a clump of Stauffachers to check in the morning (I think we did all the Stauffachers once upon a time didn't we? I seem to remember having to put tiny little band-aids on my two typing fingers)...Cynthia wandering off to sleep now
