Thank you so much for your reply. I've been looking through lots of documents. I always hate to throw to much information out but my family is in the process of publishing my great great grandfathers civil war journals. When you read about the "guys" day after day for years, it is hard not to be motivated not to find out more about them. Your thoughts about an Iowa company are good and I'll do some more research there. 7th Cav. Mo Company M was from Putnam County which borders Iowa so I thought maybe....
