Bio Photo 2013
I was born and raised in the oil fields of the Texas Panhandle, and since we did not live near either my father's or mother's family, I grew up thinking we had a very small family. After I retired, I started tracing my father's family, which, except for his immediate family, I knew very little about. I thought this would be a simple project, however, it turned into a huge project that both my husband and I love pursuing, and it keeps growing.

Please feel free to use the photos I have posted on any Find A Grave memorial, BUT please give credit to my husband by showing "photo by Bill Lewis". We take them to share with others but ask that you be courteous about their use.

If you would like a memorial transferred, please ask, and if you are more closely related or it is someone that is not our family, I will be happy to transfer it.

Please DO NOT add death certificates to the memorials I have created. This is not the place for death certificates - it is a place to honor the lives of those who have gone before us.

Also, please DO NOT add obituaries, family history, or documents in the photo section. E-mail them to me and I will be happy to add them to the bio section.

Beulah/Bulah used both surnames of Parker and Black. I can find no obituary or record of death in Arkansas with a cursory look. The 1900 (Cameron, Le Flore, Indian Territory, OK) census shows her using the last name of Black and lists her father as the man to whom her mother is married, Charles T. Black. It then shows Beulah's father as being born in Arkansas. The same census shows Charles T. Black reporting his state of birth as Tennessee. Walter Henry Parker was born in Kentucky.

The 1910 census shows Beulah, Nancy, then divorced, and the daughter of Charles T. Black, Virgie, living in Springdale, AR. Beulah is age 22. She then reports her father as being born in Missouri. Beulah's mother, Nancy Vaughan Sanders Parker Black, died in 1913. I can find no record of Beulah after this date. I corresponded with a woman who said she saw a musical program in the Hindsville cafe with the name "Beulah Parker." This was around the same time frame of 1910-1913. She may have married and moved.

Thanks for making the change. Sadly, we may never know who her father actually was.

Hi, Carolyn.

Could you please change the order of last names for Remeses Parker's mother's name? Her name was Nancy N. Vaughan Sanders Parker Black.

I have all marriage records if you need to see them. Nancy's maiden name was Vaughan. She first married and had 4 children by Samuel Sanders, he died in 1881. Two children lived to adulthood.

Nancy's second marriage was to Walter Henry Parker (my great-grandfather). Together they had Remeses and he died at age 10.5 years. Walter Henry married Julia Ann Fitch, 1st cousin to Nancy Vaughan Sanders, following his divorce from Nancy.

Nancy then had a daughter, Beulah, who was born out of wedlock.

Nancy's 3rd and last marriage was to Charles T. Black and they had a daughter, Virginia, who lived to adulthood, marrying and dying in Washington state.

Thank you.
