Bio and Links
Bio Photo Past President of the Mount Vernon Genealogical Society (www.mvgenealogy.org) & author of New Copies of Old Records from Hebron CT, 1708-1875 (Heritage Books, 2011) & various articles on New England genealogy.I have transcribed Litchfield County, CT cemeteries from the Hale Collection because I'm looking for 18th Century collateral ancestors in our Birge, Fox, Hatch, Holcomb, Hindman, Hunt, Noble, Peck, Thompson, Wilcox, & Willson lines. If you are related to other families in these cemeteries, let me know & I will transfer ownership of memorials with your surnames to you so you can add information and links. I have many other Connecticut ancestors in central Connecticut cemeteries, where I will also transfer memorials unrelated to our family.Most of my Connecticut memorials are copied from the Hale Collection, which transcribed all Connecticut tombstones during the Depression. The transcription is not error-free, but Hale was able to read things then which are no longer legible today.The New Hampshire entries are all from Colonial Gravestone Inscriptions in the State of NH, by Mrs. Charles Goss (1942). None are close relations of mine, so if you want to make additions or corrections, please just request a transfer.When contacting me about a specific memorial, PLEASE do so from the Edit:Corrections & Queries tab on the memorial itself. This makes it SO much easier for me to respond quickly & accurately.

Thomas Williams Alias Harris, Immigration
"Thomas Williams alias Harris came with wife Elizabeth and six children in the Winthrop fleet;
Davis suggests that they were passengers on the "Lyon" from Bristol, which arrived at Salem in the latter part of May, two weeks after the 'Arabella' "

Find A Grave Memorial# 35677920

I have found NO evidence of her maiden name as "HILLS". NOR a marriage to a "HILL"

There is ample evidence to support her maiden name as "CUTTER'
The first such evidence "Torrey dates her 1st marriage at about 1600/1605, to Thomas Williams Alias Harris in England, and calls her "Elizabeth Williams?", obviously confused by the alias." [used by her husband] which some researchers took to be her maiden name being Williams.

"At her second marriage to William Stilson, Torrey calls her "Elizabeth (?Cutter) Harris" as she was then the widow of Thomas Harris.

By researching the CUTTER family on-line, I found reinforcement of her being a part of that family.
Thus. it may lessen the confusion by changing the maiden name given as Hills with that of the name Cutter in your posting on Find A Grave # 35677920

Edward Riggs Sr
Hello,
Thank you for your contribution for Edward Riggs SR. I am hoping to find the cemetery and photo of a grave for him, his wife Elizbeth Rooke Holmes 1590-1635, their daughter Mary Riggs Twitchell/ Twychell 1625-1670 and son-in-law Benjamin Twitchell 1599-1676 or possibly 1680. Edward Sr also had several children ( I believe 3) who died shortly after he arrived in MA. I would also be interested in photos of their headstones if possible.
Best Regards,
Jill Linette

re: 36827930 ELIZABETH NEWHALL fARRINGTON
HELLO;
Thank you for entering the above memorial.
She was a 9th Gr. Grandmother in my husbands family.
I found that you used a death date of Dec 15,1678.
But in searching records I found a Lynn death
Oct 20,1678. Would you share your source for the
Dec 15th date. ( I do Know LDS had a "no Image"
record for DEC.)
I find this very confusing,
as her daughter in law was also Elizabeth Farrington. I hope you will offer some avenue
to research.

John Wildes -birth correction; add a child
Hello, Linda,

I am the 7th great granddaughter of William Averill, father of Sarah Averill Wildes, John Wildes' 2nd wife. Wm & Sarah and Wm's wife and 6 of Sarah's siblings came to the colony in September 1634 via either Southampton or London England.

First, you need to correct John's birth to 1620 and place which was Topsfield Massachusetts Bay New England Colony.

Secondly, John and Sarah had 2 sons, John (1664, & Ephraim 1665) both born within 2 years of their parents' marriage in 1663. John and his first son went to Boston Gaol in 1692 ca May -June)many times to provide medicines, clothing, food and other necessities while Sarah awaited trial for practicing witchcraft in Salem in July of that same year. Sarah and 5 other were executed by hanging on 19 July. Sarah was finally exonerated, along with others, 300 years later in Salem, 1992.

Thank you vey much for your assistance.
