Bio and Links
Bio Photo Past President of the Mount Vernon Genealogical Society ( & author of New Copies of Old Records from Hebron CT, 1708-1875 (Heritage Books, 2011) & various articles on New England genealogy.I have transcribed Litchfield County, CT cemeteries from the Hale Collection because I'm looking for 18th Century collateral ancestors in our Birge, Fox, Hatch, Holcomb, Hindman, Hunt, Noble, Peck, Thompson, Wilcox, & Willson lines. If you are related to other families in these cemeteries, let me know & I will transfer ownership of memorials with your surnames to you so you can add information and links. I have many other Connecticut ancestors in central Connecticut cemeteries, where I will also transfer memorials unrelated to our family. Most of my Connecticut memorials are copied from the Hale Collection, which transcribed all Connecticut tombstones during the Depression. The transcription is not error-free, but Hale was able to read things then which are no longer legible today. The New Hampshire entries are all from Colonial Gravestone Inscriptions in the State of NH, by Mrs. Charles Goss (1942). None are close relations of mine, so if you want to make additions or corrections, please just request a transfer. When contacting me about a specific memorial, PLEASE do so from the Edit:Corrections & Queries tab on the memorial itself. This makes it SO much easier for me to respond quickly & accurately.

Alanne Turina
Theodate Bachiler Hussey
Hi,Linda. My name is Alanne Turina. Stephen Bachiler is my 9-times great grandfather through his daughter Deborah; and I am now looking at his extended family. In looking at the Find A Grave for his daughter Theodata, I see that the notes say she was born 1610 (which info I already had) and died 1646. If I am reading the attached picture of the memorial stone correctly, it appears as if it says she was born in 1598 and died in 1685. Am I "missing" something? Thank you.

Are you sure about this grave belonging to Amelia Spencer Humphrey(s)? Based on research, I believe the Colonel Arnold P. Humphrey's name is spelled without the "s" on the end of "Humphrey."

Plus there's another grave site for Amelia Spencer,(Find A Grave Memorial# 129966802), daughter of Nathanial Spencer (buried in his plot), married to Col. Arnold P. Humphrey (Find A Grave Memorial # 91598469).

There seems to be confusion requiring research to link the correct grave and family together.

Hannah Harris Whitmore 107997622
Linda: I just accepted your request for your William Harris, memorial # 54877861 to be linked as a father to my Hannah Whitmore.

I did not think fast enough....because I now believe that is an error.

Your William married different women and his parents are not the same as William Harris 1617, who married Edith Bligh, the mother of Hannah.

Since you have no death/burial date and the location is unknown, I feel I must disconnect the link. Sorry~Cheers, Shirleen

Re Ann Tripp Ingalls
Re: 33975333

Sep. 16, 1648
Essex County
Massachusetts, USA

Married Edmund Ingalls 7 Jun 1618 in Skirbeck, Lincoln, England.
Died in New England after 1648.

Silly correction, but if the first part is correct, Ann died DURING 1648.

Thanks for your wonderful work!!!

Ruth Sherwood Holcombe
Hi Linda - I have sent edit requests for the parents of Ruth, as the Thomas Sherwood that is currently connected as her father, is really her grandfather. Thank you for all that you do.

Corrections needed -John WILDES*
* you have ' Wilds'/Wild

Hello, Linda.

I am the 7th great granddaughter of William & Abigail (Hynton) Averill whose daughter Sarah married John WILDES in 1663 Topsfield Essex Massachusetts Bay Colony. Sarah was John's 2nd wife; she was also tragically charged and convicted of practicing witchcraft and unjustly hung in Salem Massachusetts Bay Colony on 19 July 1692.

There is a multitude of misinformation about these families, some which can be corrected because true sources exist in spite of some claiming to be descendent and making a royal hash of it.. and why anyone would put USA during this era only God knows...

So I would request that you correct the spelling of John's and his children's to WILDES, and place of death to Topsfield Essex Massachusetts BAY COLONY NEW ENGLAND as it was ENGLISH not "American" during John's and Sarah's lifetimes.

Whether or not John was English-born is uncertain. But what I do know is that the locations in England are not relative to him as the parentage is incorrect and the surname is not his but another's.

I thank you for your assistance in righting the misinformation. Humans are very often mislead by others and thus the information is passed on and on and on-kind of like Geo. Washington and his father's cherry tree...

Thanks again! Have a good day!
