Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a retired businessman who enjoys genealogy as a hobby. I find that genealogy and "Find a grave" go hand in hand and its easy to do both at the same time and both are very rewarding. In adding Memorials for those in my family I have added memorials for many non-relatives in hope that it will help others as others have helped me. If I've submitted a relative of yours and you would like it transferred to you, just ask. I live in the Omaha metro area and thats where most of my photos were taken.Researching Bender, Ausdemore,Hittner, German,Ternus, Bockholt, Hatzenbuehler, Kramer, Wickelman and many others. Most of My family came from Germany in the Mid 1800s and settled in the North Eastern Nebraska German farming comunities and spread from there. In my research if I run across a grave of someone in the Military that is Killed in Action they get special attention and i try to find out as much as i can about them and put it on the Memorial. We owe it to these Heros and they should not be forgotten.I authorize anyone to use my photos for any reason."Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you." ~~~Princess Diana

RE: Two lincoln heros need help
Howdy Loren, I think I sent a note about Eugene Wilson Smith. I didn't edit him and sister to the parents in Wyuka, but I can if you want. As for Jack l. Melvin, I found his father and family real close to Lincoln After a lot of edits, I think I have Jack hooked up. Also found somewhat of an obit for him. His mother Lura passed in California, but I can't find her on Findagrave. Anything else I can do for these two, let me know. Thanks. Kevin.

RE: Two lincoln heros need help
Ok, I found an obit for Smith. Also found his father and mother in Wyuka. Father is # 74739084(second wife there also), mother is # 74739339. Sister Annie is buried in another section with her Smith grand parents. Submitted some edits for Everett and wives, but not for Annie or Eugene. Will work on other guy for a while. Thanks Loren. Kevin.

RE: John D. Lackey
I know a lot of little tricks. I think I found his real mother, but need a little more confirmation. Might edit her in when I'm sure. Kevin.

RE: John D. Lackey
Howdy Loren, I found somewhat of an obit for John. I also found his father in California and his grandparents and uncle in York county NE. I submitted all edits I could. Bess (Herbert)Lackey, I can't find, but she was not John's mother. Bess and Lester married in 1928. John's mother was a woman named Grace who married a Roy Knee, divorced Knee and tried to marry Lester before officially divorced and divorced by Lester because she was "playing" around. Grace was granted custody of their one minor child(John) in 1925, but John is with Lester and Bess in 1930 census. Can find nothing more on Grace. Lester was a Capt. in the Lincoln Fire Department and retired in 1941, presumably to move to California where son John was stationed. John enlisted right out of high school, he was anxious to serve it seems. Thanks. Kevin.
