Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.

Thank you ever so much for the transfers. I would never have found them without you. Am so excited about adding them to the other Ritz family members. While they may not be buried together they will at least be together on Find A Grave!! Thank you again! Irene

Do you know where I may get a copy of the biography about George in "History of Stone MO Vol 1" by Stone Co MO Historical Society, page 583 ?
|R. Jeanne Moran||John Carriere|
Hello: I am not related to John Carriere. My research came from Ancestry.com. "Johny Carrier", b. abt 1856, Quebec, appeared on the 1891 Census of Canada with his parents, Etienne and Marceline Carrier [he also appeared elsewhere on Canada census records]. On "Washington, Petitions for Naturalization, 1860-1991", it is stated that John Carriere was born April 26, 1856, Quebec, Canada. On "Washington, Select Death Certificates, 1907-1960", the entry for John Carriere, husband of Jennie Carriere, showed that he was born April 26, 1856, Quebec, Canada, and died October 18, 1931, in Auburn, King County, Washington. Although his family spelled their surname Carrier, he altered the spelling to Carriere in the U.S. I applaud your commitment to accuracy. Best regards, Jeanne.

This is the grave of my maternal grandparents. My grandmother Della E. Murray, is buried on top of my grandfather. She died in 1969, but there was no adjoining plot. My daughter and I visited the grave in September, 2013, and I have a picture of the headstone. So, something happened to the stone right before your post. I attempted to upload the picture but was unsuccessful. The headstone was in excellent condition at the time we visited. Due to transportation difficulties, I have not been able to visit like I wanted. But with that problem solved, I am actively looking into the missing headstone.
