Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am a native of Massachusetts but have lived in Florida more than 35 years. I spent eight years in the Air Force and then over 45 years in the computer industry as a software engineer before retiring in 1998.
I am the National Chairman of the Family and Friends of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment Association. I also serve as the webmaster of www.508pir.org, a site dedicated to men of the 508th PIR. The 508th jumped into Normandy and Holland and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WW-II. Subsequently the regiment fought in Korea and Vietnam and today is seeing duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The web site has benefited on a number of occasions with photos contributed by Find-A-Grave volunteers
I felt that those contributions should be reciprocated and I have become a volunteer myself.

Unfortunately, the grave section on this memorial was entered incorrectly when the memorial was first set up. There is no section 20 at Long Island National Cemetery. I've submitted an edit to get it corrected to section 2C. Once the edit is accepted the location will update on your photo request. Mr. Bray's gravesite is located in the same section as a good friend's parents, and, based on the plot number is likely in the same row. I'm hopeful of getting to LINC this weekend, weather permitting, and will try to fulfill your request then. If not, the edited location will help another photo volunteer find the right plot. Best, Helen

location of shiloh baptist cemetery
I am not sure if you are the person I need to contact regarding this, but someone has this cemetery listed in Greene County and it's not. This is the link http://www.shilohbaptist.church/ for the church. As you can see, it is located in Ralph, Tuscaloosa County. If you or someone can get this corrected, I would be eternally grateful.

James R. Blue (508 PIR Co. A)
I'd like to begin with thanking you for adding my grandfather (through his daughter Sharon Blue Adams) MSG Jim Blue. His entire life was devoted to the memories of his friends lost in combat (particularly Ray Johnston and Walter Dikoon) and the 82nd Airborne-the 508th in particular. He never missed a 508th reunion until his health began to fail. It is the responsibility of men like us to tell their stories to as many as we can about their sacrifices so their valor in combat will never be forgotten-because if not for them we would not have the lives we enjoy today.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, would you allow to transfer management of his page to me? Not a day goes by that I don't think about my grandfather and biggest hero, and it would be an honor if I manage his page.

Thank you so much for what you do, and may the Red Devils never be forgotten.

RE: William H. Chandler
Greetings,

As noted, I received the information by email a couple of years back. Unfortunately I did not keep the email.

The person who posted William's photo, Lewis Sims Find A Grave #48031900, may be able to help in your research. You might also want to reach out to the person(s) who have supplied his parents, siblings, etc.

Sorry I can't help more. Good luck in your search.

All the best.

Ed

RE: Tylicki photo
I sent an edit for his death date, but didn't have the specific day. I'm always sad when there's no inscription, and I hope that the family will get together and have it engraved. Regards, Joan

Thank you for the additional information. I've added the information to his bio section. Someone else left other information in the "flower" section as well. I've added that also to his bio section.

Cheers! :)

Oops... short memory/incomplete notes
Okay, it was actually when I was looking for information re: Gazel W. Tomory, another WW-II who died in 2012.

I initially "guessed" that anyone with this fairly uncommon name, living in the same general area would be related... but then I realized how wrong I was. I sent you what I found on YOUR Tomory; so it could be used. Thanks for all you've done so far to "keep the memories alive".
