My interest in genealogy began 66 years ago when I listened to my mother and grandmother trace relationships of their friends and family. |
As a Find A Grave photo volunteer for Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery, I sometimes stumble over a neglected or forgotten grave marker. I add information or create memorials for the lives I discover in this way.
I've lived in Portland since 1985. Do not presume to lecture me on the city of today or yesterday, the history or current status of Lone Fir Pioneer Cemetery.
If you have rules and procedures and requirements for memorials and photos, don't expect me to follow them. As far as cleaning headstones? Don't be silly. I clean off the bird ****, wipe the dust, pull the weeds, rinse the mud. What good is a photo where the name can't be seen or the dates visible?
Use the "edit" tab to request additions, changes, transfers. Do not burden me with the task of searching for the memorial.

I received a message from you that I had duplicated a record you had made. I have checked and not sure now which one you want me to delete. #:137745033
or the record with all information about with parents link and siblings link. Yes, she is the Rosie from the records. I found her mover than 20 yrs ago in those records as I already knew she existed according to stories told to me by my Grandmother Edith Mae Haggett Harlow. Also my cousin grandson of Charles Haggett had their mother Matilda Colwell Haggett's bible with the names birth dates and death dates of her 3 young daughters who died within 3 wks of each other of diptheria.
Please let me know what I should do or since all the information is already linked to her siblings and her parents perhaps 137745033 should be deleted as she is not easy to find for family who know her as Rosie Haggett.

Thanks so much. If you look up a Lawson Laflesh in Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles Michigan and read his bio it might help explain what I am doing. Thanks so much for responding.

Hi there - I've just added a memorial for Mary Devore in Glenwood Cemetery, Mills County, Iowa. Her record in the Mills County Cemetery Book (1983), available in the genealogy room of the Glenwood Public Library, shows she was the wife of John Devore. No such person was buried near her, so I began looking and found a John and a Mary in Cotten Cemetery, Mills County. Could be this is the real grave of Mary, who died 1873, while John buried in Cotton died 1874? The M.D. in Cotton could be only a marker for her, or she could be buried in Cotton and the marker in Glenwood Cemetery erected by later relatives. It it impossible to know for sure, but wanted you to know of the link.
Good luck in your family searches,
Tish No. 48728895
Thank you very much for those Thompson headstone photos. I really do appreciate this.
I just wanted you to know that I posted pictures from the late 1800's on a Daniel-1878 and Bridgett 1894 Cahill from St. Vincent's Cemetery in LaSalle, Illinois. They are not the 2 you were searching for but , I thought might possibly be a relative. I will still keep looking for your Cahill's as I continue to photograph that cemetery

Not to worry. I have patience.

Thank you. Long ago in the Stone Age when I began doing genealogy, we learned that a genealogist must be patient. It seems it was more true then, but the advice still is well taken. By the way, if there is no stone, please photograph the plot anyway, and post it. I really do appreciate this - and really, I'm in no hurry.
