DO NOT USE MY EMAIL IN THE BIO FOR A SOURCE WHEN ADDING MY EDIT INFORMATION. It adds an incredible amount of spam in my mail due to web robots. "Volunteer 46947920" or my name will suffice nicely.

This was a wondrous site where the upcoming generations can easily find their history and ancestors. Even after we are gone, our work will remain. Thank you, Findagrave.

My tree was done generations ago, thanks to my ancestors. Now my time is spent on documenting cemeteries, research, linking memorials, reuniting families, and connecting the dots; my virtual flowers now represent edits. Quality, not quantity.

We are all simply the guardians of those we have kindly added until their family comes along. I am eager to transfer anyone who is not family to family. BUT, request through the system, not here, not email! Demands will be ignored, "please" is simply common courtesy.

I take my heritage, 'graving' and documentation very seriously and most respectfully. Accuracy is of the most utmost importance to me, not who 'owns' a memorial. If I have made an error, please, please, let me know, politely. If you are rude, I will ignore you.

** I spend over half my time on Findagrave JUST sending edits to admin for duplicates. PLEASE double check before you add a historical person from the 1600's or back. Most likely, they have already been added.

** PLEASE read the FAQ concerning BURIALS UNKNOWN. They are to be used for RECENT deaths only, not your 176th great grandfather whose burial is 'not located yet.' I adhered to the rules, please do the same. I will not link to an unknown burial.

** If your pictures are crooked, of poor quality, out of focus, too dark to read, taken at night, shadowed, or the stone is covered in dirt or weeds, or your finger was in front of the lens, I will add my photo on the memorial. I apologize, I do not intend to offend. It is not out of disrespect for the other photographer, it is out of respect for the deceased and the family who might appreciate a good photo of the stone. Please have the gumption and consideration to post only decent, well thought out photos.

**USE THE MEMORIAL EDIT/SUGGESTION OPTION ON THE MEMORIAL you want updated for updates requests, transfer requests, or general inquiries for ANY memorial, it gives me easy access to the memorial in question, I have entered thousands. I will Ignore and delete suggestions, requests and updates and inquiries left here or in email.

Access to Mariposa Cemetery
Hi - I see that you have taken many photos at Brewer's Green Mountain Cemetery (on private property) in Mariposa. The cemetery is gated and locked. How did you gain access for taking photos? Hopefully there is a phone number to call for permission and entry. It took me 5 phone calls to get the location. Holy cow. I am now on a mission. If you have any info please let me know. Thanks so much.

David DeForest death in Eaton Michigan
Hello Anne,
I'm sure were cousins of some sort. My father was a Shurtleff and I'm a descendant of Ebenezer Deforest and Mercy through their son Samuel.

I've been researching the Deforests recently for an application I'm submitting to the Holland Dames Society. The David DeForest who died in Eaton Michigan, cannot be the David, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Chapman. David, their son married Eliza Lockwood in 1841 and they are still living as of the 1900 census; residing in New Canaan, Fairfield, Connecticut. David DeForest, son of Samuel and Elizabeth Chapman died 6 Oct 1900. According to my records, his birth date was 3 June 1819.

So it's a similar birth year to the David who died in Eaton Michigan, but he has to be someone else's son.

The proof of this is that David and his wife Eliza released and quit claim to property they would have inherited from Ebenezer's estate; since their father Samuel predeceased him. They quit claim and released their interest in the property to James H DeForest, Samuel's brother, 25 Jun 1849 and were still residing in Norwalk, Fairfield, CT.

So I'm not sure who this David is in Eaton Michigan, but he's not Samuel and Elizabeth Chapman's son.

Hi Anne,

I see that they have his twin brother birth date set at 05 MAR 1324 and I have this link that I have seen that they are more right then wrong that has the same date of birth for John.

It's up to you if you want to change it or leave it as is.

Thank You

You asked if I was related to her. She was my maternal grandmother. Sorry for the delay, I just now saw this message.

RE: William A Cox 139238851

No, I'm not related that I've found so far. His father was Mayor of Ottawa in 1894 and is on Find A Grave's famous list at a local cemetery.

When I go to local cemeteries to get photos for myself in addition to trying to fulfill requests I also look for famous burials that have no monument photos.

In William's father's case I added the other family members and did a bit of research to find his children and link them to their parent's memorials.

RE: Thank you!
You are welcome. And Thank you for all of your contributions. I grew up in Big Oak Flat, Groveland area and appreciate your efforts to add more information and family links to the Find A Grave memorials. I knew many of the residents & families of Big Oak Flat and Groveland area while growing up, going to school and later as Postmaster at Big Oak Flat & Groveland (1973-1983). I am compiling more information & memories on the families that lived there while I was growing up (1946-1958 & up to 1983) but it has been a slow process since I still work 7 days a week. I wish I had more time to work on this but I now live in Nevada and don't get back to California very often.
Thank you again and God Bless you,

You have a picture of Mergie as a baby with her older brother Vernon. Vernon, however, appears to be her younger brother, born 1892. Could this be Riley David, who was born in 1882?
