Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in Vaiden, MS, on Dec. 31, 1954 to Alf Trotter Collins and Juanita Hambrick Collins.

I lived in Vaiden, MS until 1979, Winona, MS until 1981, when I moved to Jackson, MS. In 1990, I moved to Florence, MS, where I still reside.

I have two wonderful sons, Sean and Cody, and I worked as a Level 2 Computer Field Technician for AmSouth Bank, In-House Technician for Trustmark Bank and Field Technician for CompuCom servicing 10 Lowe's stores in Mississippi.

I have an A.A. Degree in Pre-Law; a B.S. Degree in History with a Minor in English; and a Master of Social Sciences with an emphasis in History.

I have written and maintain 240+ web pages, including listings of the burials in the Vaiden Mississippi Cemetery (White) and the Vaiden Community Cemetery (African-American).

So far, my family history has been traced back to my 14th Generation Grandfather, John Collins I, who was the keeper of the Gael (prison) for King Charles I of England (son of James I - of the King James Bible fame). Other relatives include another King (Elvis).

Other hobbies include motorcycles, making music as a drummer, historical research, adding entries to Find-a-Grave (since 08/11/2000), and watching and collecting DVDs.

PLEASE CHECK FIRST TO SEE IF ENTRIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN ADDED AND MAKE SURE THAT ANY MARKER PHOTOS AND DATES ARE LEGIBLE.

RE: FAG Mem # 105885709
Thanks, Ron, for creating a memorial page for my Mom, Elizabeth Lay, and also for correcting the death date of my Aunt, Dorothy Gene Burkes. I will try to send you my Mom's obituary as I appreciate your offer to add it to her memorial page.

Have a nice night,
Donnie

Ron, I couldn't find a memorial for my Mom, Elizabeth, either, but I figured that there was not one set up yet as she had just been placed in Lakewood Jackson on 7-11-17. I am a new member of Find A Grave and don't have a good understanding of how things work. It appears that the memorials I've found were created by nice volunteers like you and not family members. Is this correct? What does it entail for you to create one for my Mom? If it's not too much trouble, I would be pleased for you to do so. If you need information, let me know. Her marker is on order and will be installed at a later date. Many thanks for adding my Mom's name to her sister's memorial.
Bless you,
Donnie

Information on their children is incomplete. Missing children are Jesse, Lucille, Lola and Bessie Lee Braswell Hill Davidson. Check out the 1920, 1930 and 1940 censuses for Walter Braswell in Crossett, Ashley Co., Arkansas. I do not know anything about Jesse, Lucille and Lola, but I knew Bessie (I called her Mrs. Davidson.) and was best friends in high school with her daughter, Sylvia Ann Davidson Milton, who is buried in the same cemetery. I attended visitation when Sylvia's grandfather (Bessie's father) died. I have edited relationships on Bessie's and Sylvia's memorials. Please accept.

Josephine "Josie" Collins
Josie has been FOUND!!!

It has taken 19 months, but today I can say I have solved the mystery of Josie Collins. Josie Collins, daughter of John Franklin and Mary Sellars Collins married H.H. Famer in Carroll County, MS in 1911. They had two sons, Millard and Herman. H.H. Farmer died in 1914 and Josie remarried George W. Smith. The lived in Bolivar County, MS by the 1920 census. They had 2 daughters, Vera Estelle and Opal Smith. Josie died 23Jan1923 and is buried in Shaw, Bolivar County, MS. George W. Smith moved to Arkansas during the 1927 MS River Flood.

Vera Estelle Smith married Robert Franklin Wolfe in Phillips County, Arkansas in 1935. They had 6 children, two of which are still living today. Opal Smith married Leo Balden and they had at least one child. One of Vera Estelle Smith Wolfe daughters confirmed today that her mother had two brothers that they were separated from during the 1927 flood and that they had never been able to contact them.

Thanks to all who has assisted me as I have searched for Josie. That would include the Farmers, Collins, Smiths, Sellars, Blaylocks, Bennetts and so many more friends from Ancestry.com and Find A Grave.

My wife gained two new cousins today, but more important we brought closure to a missing family member.
