I am hoping you can shed some light on the source of his birth in Maryland. Everything I have found shows that to be correct, but the Commemorative Biographical Record of Washington County, Pennsylvania says the family originated in New Jersey. Thank you!

I am impressed with the work you do. We seem to be partners-in-genealogy. A few years ago, I photographed and documented catholic South Side cemeteries looking for my grandparents. The past few months, I am going back thru these memorials and going into Ancestry to find the Death Certificates and trying to link the family members where possible. That is why I have so many edit requests. No sooner do you do the edits, you add more detail on dates and poof there is the obituary. I think I half-heartedly tried copying in an obituary with bad results. I should really learn this but you seem to such a great job.
What software are you using the find the obituary and does that software give a tech-challenged person like me step by step instruction is copying it to Find A Grave? I want you to know I get a smile when I go back to an edit and see that you are right behind me with additonal data/photo. Thanks for all you contribute to this wonderful site. What a strong effort, we are putting forth to people we do not really know. Do you live in and have you grown up in Pittsburgh? South Side? If you need help ever, drop me a line. Mary ,

Thank you for correcting my entry error for Mrs Mellenkamp . If I remember correctly , many of the searches go better with an approximate entry in the box. I believe I made an estimate and did that , but forgot to remove it later . I had seen the obituary but had lost track of it .
regards Ed
