Genealogy, cemetery photography, and collecting unusual names from tombstones are among my hobbies. I love reading (history, biographies, poetry), animals, cooking, old houses, art, learning, gardening, and walking in the woods. In college, I studied European history, Spanish language and culture, American literature, gender studies/Southern masculinity, and composition theory. My German and Dutch ancestors were among the founding settlers of Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, & New York, as well as the American West. My favorite cemeteries include the founders and military cemeteries in St. Augustine, Florida; the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Kentucky; Red Oak Cemetery in Brown County, Ohio; and the ancient burial sites of Galicia. Some of my ancestors include Homer Van Meter, getaway driver for Depression-era gangster John Dillinger; Penelope Von Prinzen Stout, founding mother of New Jersey; Elizabeth Bee, a courtesan of Elizabeth I; James Fenimore Cooper, American novelist; William "Billy" Helphenstine, participant in a famous Fleming County, Kentucky, murder trial; Jan and Jos VanMatre, among the first Dutch colonists in America; Isaac Wamsley, German ship's captain-turned-Revolutionary War patriot; and Peter Helphenstine, Virginia militia man, friend of George Washington, and Revolutionary War patriot. My fantasy cemetery vacation? Pere-Lachaise, of course!I have written the following bios for FAG: Thomas Philip "Tip" O'Neill, John F. Kennedy Jr., Michael Hutchence, Laura Ashley, Quentin Crisp, Adolph Rupp, and Jurgen Baldiga.|

It has been 10 years since you made this memorial. Rachel's last name is unknown to you here. have you found any info proving what her last name was? I find lots of info saying it was Waring (Warren) but I can not find proof.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Kathy, could this possibly be Jefferson Monroe Williams? The dates and location coincide with an ancestor I am researching. Also we may be distantly related as my cousin who lives in Peebles, Ohio has both Riley and WIlliams in her family tree. The Riley was on her maternal side of the family (Grooms/Riley) and she married a WIlliams.
If you prefer to contact me directly I am at Lyndziblue@aol.com.

Kathy I know you have the earlier memorial for Leah but could you put her and Isaac in the Wamsley Family Cemetery since that is in fact where they are buried and coordinate with the creator of #92068755 which has info on her siblings.
In addition I have this infor on her:
Please add--Dr Jonathan Stout, son of Richard and Esther Tilton, born March 26 1702 and died April 27 1775 married Leah White, daughter of Amos and Hannah Mills White, about 1728. They were baptized November 11 1759 in Parish Register of Christ Church Shrewsbury. (Stillwell, John E, pp. 310-311)

Is this memorial for Leah Taylor Stout, married to Isaac Wamsley, a duplicate of memorial 92068755? If so, can you please tell me which is the correct birth date?
Thanks in advance,

May I have your permission to use your photo of Simon in my private family tree? Simon was a 4th cousin of mine. Not a close relative, but a cousin none the less! I love having a face to put with the names in my tree, makes it so much more personal.
Thank you so much for visiting my dad and leaving the kind message. I appreciate it so much.

I am somewhat confused as the memorial I cited was written by you, or am I incorrect?

I find information indicating that Isaac Wamsley is buried in The Wamsleyville Methodist Episcopal Church Cemetery AND the Wamsley Family Cemetery.
Can you shed any light on this?
