Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.
This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!
This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...
***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***
I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.
Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.
I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".
This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.
This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.
An Epitath taken from a Civil War Soldier's gravestone......
In the night a bright wing fluttered oer the tent in which he lay. In his ear a soft voice uttered...Soldier rise and come away"

Hi, Donna! I have seen your name over and over as I find the memorials of my ancestors. I've seen it especially in the Vosburg family in the Alabama Cemetery of Alabama, New York. Their gravestones are so cool! More importantly, I never knew that my 4-times-great-grandfather had a wife and 6 children before he married my 4-times-great-grandmother and had my 3-times-great-grandmother, Jennie. We thought Jennie had one brother, and that was it. After finding these gravestones and digging further, it turns out that she was one of 12 children!
I'm really grateful for the work you did adding these. You're wonderful!

William was born 1781 Washington Co. , NY and is a brother to James Guthrie # 122565941 can that be noted somewhere?? Their parents are unknown at this time.
Donna, thank you for posting pictures and information on Findagrave. Those of us trying do genealogy research really do appreciate it! I am researching one of my family branches which is the Balduf line. One correction to Josephine Balduf: her husband was Frederick W. Balduf. Josephine's maiden name was Zimmerman and J. Zimmerman is her dad. Thanks! Cathy

Find A Grave Memorial# 19168663,
I am into sharing particularly with other family members. I have encountered several institutionalized family members and an relieved when I can find any evidence of their outcomes. It is a terrible feeling to feel that a life has been forgotten. This is the reason I really believe in sharing. Yes, we all have personal feelings about our loved ones but I am sure that I am not the only one who cared. I really believe in sharing. Thank you for posting the picture but I wish you would let me share it. Have you read "What She Left Behind" or "The Lives They Left Behind"? I also wonder how you found out all of the information you did about this person. I am seeking this type of information about others of my family. Thank you again, Meredith

Thanks for all that you do on Find A Grave! I am trying to locate the living next of kin for this guy's father, Billy Mitchell, so that they can accept the Distinguished Member of the Signal Corps Regimental Award. Do you have any information at all that might help? Please feel free to email me if you prefer. Paularuehling@gmail.com
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Hello,I was looking at the memorial you created for Carlos memorial #29617284 You wrote that Carlos was buried at the side of his mother. No memorial has ever been created for her. Do you live near the cemetery? I would like to get a photo of his mother grave. Harriet Stebbins b.1797 d. 1868. So I could create her a memorial. I am a direct decedentant. My great grandmother was a Stebbbins. If you can please let me know. Thank you so much for your time.
