|John Duresky||1898 Wedding photo|
Hi, today at a Goodwill store in Scottsdale, AZ, I bought a picture of a wedding in a nice old frame. I removed the old cardboard backing, and on the back of the picture are three things. First, there is a wedding announcement I assume from a newspaper clipping for January 30, 1898 between C.W. Willis of Glenwood, and Lura J. Buchanan of Kirksville done in Queen City. I did some research and pretty easily found that those are all cities in Missouri, and then located their marriage certificate, and finally this site for Charles William Willis. Also on the back very nicely hand written are the following names who I am guessing are people in the wedding party. Bertha Williams, Sam Brightman, Anna Pollack, H. Mr. Foster (Iím guessing the H stands for Honorable), Julia McBeth, J (hard to make out) Montgomery, Bessie Link, Vida Jenkins, Lura Buchanan, Mr. McKinney, Pattie Ross, Ed Stauffer, Mary Northcutt, Bert Thornburg, Tillie McGinnis, Harrie Laughlin, Mamie Lorenz, Ella H (hard to make out), John Evans, Kate Carpenter, Julia Porter. Finally on the back printed it reads UNDER-GRADUATES FOR 1897 Ė ELEMENTARY CLASS (clearly these are not elementary class by modern definitions, so must have meant something different back then). Names printed are (ones in ALL CAPS are in the previous list as well. SAMíL C BRIGHTMAN, LURA BACHMAN, KATE CARPENTER, JOHN EVANS, C F Foster, Helen Greenwood, Ella Hannah, VIDA JENKINS, Bessie Link, MAYME (different first name spelling) LORENZ, HARRY (different first name spelling) LAUGHLIN, C D Mills, C F MCKINNEY (possibly same as Mr. McKinney prior list), JULIA MCBETH, J S MONTGOMERY (possibly same as J Montgomery in prior list), TILLIE MCGINNIS, Zoa McDowell, Clora Mairs, MAY (different first name spelling) NORTHCUTT, JULIA PORTER, ANNA POLLOCK (different LAST name spelling), PATTY (different first name spelling) ROSS, C F Stauffer, Wells Smith, W B THORNBURG (assume same as above Bert Thornburg), BERTHA WILLIAMS. If anyone would like a copy of the front and back of this photo please let me know. Also if anyone knows a direct descendant of either CHARLES WILLIAM WILLIS or LURA BUCHANAN, please let me know and Iíll be happy to send the framed picture to them. Nice to keep these things in the family. Regards, John Duresky
|Sue||Re: Cora Bray Mather|
Hi, I am related to Cora Bray Mather and looking for her obituary or Everett Mather's. Also, researching info on Cora's sisters' Halena "Hallie" Bray Graham and Lulu Bray Carris. I have their birth/death dates, but would appreciate any possible other information. Thank you much.

You will receive credit for this.
Thank you for your consideration

I am presently working on a project to identify the last resting places of many of our old patriots that served in the Civil War,that had any ties to Vermont. Josiah kellogg is one such soldier, I am asking you if I may use the photo you contributed to his Find A Grave memorial, to post on Vermont's Civil War site?
