We have been tracing our family trees for a number of decades. As part of that research, we have walked a number of cemeteries photographing the gravestones. Jim's genealogy centers on Mason County, WV and Elizabeth's family comes from the western New York area. |
ADDITIONS or CORRECTIONS
Changes to names, dates, places and relationships can be easily made under the Edit tab on any memorial.
The purpose of Find A Grave is to record burial locations, not build your family tree. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request.
If you wish to gather your family members, use the "Virtual Cemetery" feature.
All the current policies on transfers can be found at "How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?" under the "Help with Find A Grave" link on the left hand side of the page. Requests for transfers must be within these guidelines and include a relationship statement.
Requests for transfers outside of direct relatives within four generations (specifically -- siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren) will not be honored. (If you do not agree with the Find A Grave policy, you need to be writing a note to them. It is their free website and they can make the rules.)
"In regard to duplicates, a memorial with a correct known burial location will always be preferred over an unknown burial location." (from Help with Find A Grave)
Mistakes happen. If we have duplicated a correctly placed memorial, just add a note under "Suggest Any Other Correction.
Moving a memorial, not originally posted to the correct cemetery (or originally posted using "burial unknown") does not make our memorials duplicates regardless of the creation date. Moving a memorial means you are creating the duplicate, again, regardless of the creation date.
Photographs we have taken may be used on other websites or in printed materials ONLY if credit is given to Findagrave.com (including cemetery name) and credit is given to "Jim and Elizabeth" as photographers. |StoneMiller, a RealMcCloy||RE: William Miller 1849-1881|
My cousin went and got the birth certificate, and I checked it online, and he died in a cave-in on August 4, 1881 but the headstone says March 20, 1881, 5 months before he died. See this. That shows wife, father and mother correctly. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_dcdetail.aspx?Id=5271608
Hello Jim and Elizabeth,
I'm writing you here to see if you would be willing to transfer this memorial to me please? I have some extensive info I would like to add to this memorial. I appreciate your understanding in helping me out.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Could you please delete the 2 pictures for William Miller Find A Grave # 83826226
I greatly appreciate your work but this could not possibly be my grandfather's grave. Finally found his death record (posted) and he died in a cave-in on Aug 4 1881 whereas this person died in March of 1881. Again many thanks for your work.

Hi Jim and Elizabeth,
I was pleasantly surprised to find the gravestone documented for my great, great grandfather, Philip.
My grandmother, Laura would have been Philip's granddaughter.
|James Stewart||John J Sweeney|
We recently stopped by ( after 604 miles on the road ) at Arcade Rural Cemetery in Arcade NY ! We were looking for the gravestone of John J. Sweeney to clean it. John is a distant distant relative of mine and was touched by the fact he lost his life in the service of our country and as a veteran I feel a need to clean his stone. Well we searched the cemetery for a couple hours and were not successful in finding his stone because it's not an easy one to search. IF you can clue me in to where in the cemetery his stone is I would appreciate it. We did find a stone for a Civil War soldier that was in the 100th. NY Infantry the same unit my great great grandfather was in so we cleaned that one ! Thanks Jim Stewart Shabbona IL.
|Cejae Jones||Jacob Backe|
Was wondering if you could see if there is a Jacob Backe b. 1860 buried at St Mary's Cemetery in Strykersville, Wyoming County, New York. His older brother Joseph Backe is buried there (Memorial# 51359125) and thought maybe he might be as well. Jacob had two sons Andrew (Memorial# 102074392) and Henry. They are both at the Riverside Cem in Windor, Broome, NY. Unfortunately both St. Mary's and Riverside Cemetery's are so old either of them have an office # you can call for information. I'm thinking Jacob died sometime between 1930 and 1940. His wife ran off on him so he would be buried alone. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. Thank you for our time.
|Katherine White||RE: Kreutter|
I'm so happy you agree! I spent a few additional even after I wrote to you researching away and found info that his parents and numerous siblings were here as well. That's why the surname is crawling all over parts of Wyoming Co. I also found a slight error in the bio I sent. I didn't know at the time Gottlieb had a sister named Catherine (as well as a wife) and that's who he emigrated with. I mistakenly assumed it was his wife when I wrote. I'll rewrite it and send a SAC. Thank you :)
|jennfier ross||Mary Hamlin #149844703|
This Mary Hamlin also is a duplicate as she was John Hamlin's second wife and the person did not know where she was buried. Here is the #93649384 that they created for her with an unknown burial plot. If you would please be willing to remove yours as to save from confusion since it was created second.
|jennfier ross||Eliza Hamiln #149844700|
Hi I was adding some photos in for Oakwood cemetery and checking against records and some already created a memorial for Eliza Hamlin # 93704011 in 2010 as they did not know where she was buried however I found her and it looks like they put a lot of work into what they did and because yours was created second would it be possible for confusions sake if you would be willing to remove the one that you created.
|Jean Wilson||Adline Smith Child|
I have been looking for a burial in the Nevada Memorial Cemetery in Nevada, Iowa. She is listed as a spouse of Richard Child, but in the bio, she is not listed. I believe someone made an error, & would like to correct it. Thank you.
