Bio and Links
Bio Photo trying to stay ahead of developers who want to cover historical markers... and the weather, time and vandals that obscure the inscriptions... to honor those that walked before us.

Although I visit cemeteries whenever I travel (to the dismay of others in the car), most of my work is in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York's lower Hudson Valley and Washington State's Skagit County. I've been known to wander off to Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maine given the opportunity.

Whenever possible, I post a photo--a photo makes it real. I also try to list the sources I've used to stitch together family relations or any info that I might find. I will not link to those who are listed as burial location unknown.

Thank you in advance for sending in corrections or additions using the Edit button. I appreciate your updates very much. Although I try to thank and acknowledge all corrections, I may not always have the time. Edits posted in the message area below will be ignored and deleted.

I transfer direct relatives within three generations (that means: your siblings, parents, grandparents, children, and grandchildren). As Richard H so aptly puts it:
"... someone who died 200 years ago could be related to thousands of people." Please use the virtual cemetery feature to group your family memorials.

My activity is seasonal--I use the New England winters to create new memorials with the images I've collected the rest of the year. There are several thousand waiting to be processed... Click here to see the memorials I've added in the past few 7 days.

RE: Sally Morse #136137810
Not a problem! I really appreciate your finding her maiden name which I was able to confirm. So I will accept your suggestion and then re-enter the first name as Sally.

Sally Morse #136137810
Thank you for the suggested edits! May I ask for the source regarding the name Sarah? All of the documents that I have found on FamilySearch give the name as Sally--as well as the gravestone, of course.

I understand that Sally was a common nickname for Sarah; I'm just not sure that was the case here.

I like-Seven Persons of the Name By Abner Morse.
You should try Scandinavian names! More fun.

RE: Gideon Morse, FAG #83402597
Thank you for the quick response.
I have been trolling through DAR records as my wife is a granddaughter of Chester Whitney Morse and some confusion/questions popped up in the Gideon Morse children. Since writing to you I have uncovered more and I now believe it looks something like this.

There are definitely two girls Sarah and Hannah, the confusion is who they married;

Sarah (known as Sally) Morse m1 Ebenezer Gile, m2 Amos Morse, m3 William Doten

Hannah Morse m1 Guild, m2 Amos Morse

Hence some of the confusion Gile, Guild, Amos Morse (is Amos in two places or 2 separate people)....

Still work in progress.
The Doty/Doten family book of 1807 helps with Sarah and confirms the two children presumably with Amos Morse (Elvira and Hannah) as Ebenezer Gile died in 1813. This was William Doten's second marriage as well.

If you like I will keep in touch. I am also coming to USA from AU in July and should have access to the DAR hard copy records which may shed more light.

Gideon Morse, FAG #83402597

I'm building the Morse family tree and believe a correction to you bio is needed for Gideon:

current bio:

- Hannah/Sarah Morse (2 Jun 1793-24 Apr 1879) m1 Guild, m2 Amos Morse, m3 William Doten

change to:

- Sarah Morse (2 Jun 1793-24 Apr 1879) m William Doty (Doten)
- Hanna Morse (no dates) m1 Abenezer Guild, m2 Amos Morse

Many thanks.

RE: Mary Simonds and Oscar Fullington
So embarrassed to admit this, but I'm afraid I don't remember what I submitted {palm-slap} and the suggested edits tab isn't helping. If you wanted to take the time to let me know what I suggested, I'd be more than happy to find you the sources. Again, sorry for making this more complicated on your part than it should have to be! :(

Thank you...and request
Thank you so much for all your work creating and maintaining memorials. So many times while doing genealogy research I notice who created a memorial and see your name :). I'm also wondering your policy on using your photos. Do you mind if I use them on my Ancestry or Wikitree trees? With credit, of course.

Have a great day!

Regarding Memorial #64816005. Thank you for your suggestion of a duplicate. This is something I will have to research. The cemetery indicates husband and wife are buried in Illinois. She was living there just before she died. I will research and make any notations accordingly. (Dilemma: Cemetery records indicate buried in Illinois; however, there is a monument in Licking Co, Ohio where she was from)
