|I've always been interested in cemeteries - they have so many stories to tell. Special interests include Civil War soldiers buried in Massachusetts (please see my website honoring 21 year old Hosea O. Barnes of Scituate and Boston, MA as well as other local men who served in the C.W.) Visiting family grave sites greatly enhanced my own genealogical research as well as providing a number of surprises, but it's always thought provoking. m.p.|

It breaks my heart to think of that, too. God bless you.

...for leaving a rose for Alan Turing on his birthday today.
To answer your question, Alan is thought to have committed suicide as a result of terrible persecution he suffered for being gay. Homosexual behavior was illegal in Britain during his lifetime, and Alan was forced to undergo brutal chemical castration to avoid being imprisoned. He was also barred from continuing his work in cryptoanalysis. My only consolation regarding this matter is the thought that he is at peace and free to be himself where he is now.

|Karen Cross Proctor||Gleason Archer picture on Find A Grave|
My name is Karen Cross Proctor and I was wondering if I could have permission to use the picture of Gleason that you posted on Find A Grave, in a History Press book I am writin. As research director of the Pembroke Historical Society,I wrote articles for the local newspaper and I have put some of them in this booklet. One of them is of Gleason Archer who lived here in Pembroke, MA for many years. The picture would be a great addition.
Thank you so much for your consideration of this matter,

Hi Mary, No, I didn't know the Monahans. My mom & dad are also buried in Holy Family and I grew up in Rockland so I took pictures of as many grave sites as I could at Holy Family(I now live in Maine) to add to existing memorials and added memorials with pictures. I was notified recently that there were duplicate memorials with unknown locations, so.....
