Souther
I saw that you were in relation to Richard Dennis Souther F.A.G.# 46781032 as your cousin...

Just wanted to let you know the passing acouple years ago of Hatherly L. "Hat" Souther #183317289. If you want to maintain the memorial since it is your family like, I will be glad to transfer.

I came across his obituary when I find out that one of his grand-daughter passed away. Ironically on the same day of his death two years ago she died the same day. :(

Hi Trink J,

1) Sorry for butchering your name in the last message...really mistyped that.
2) Thank you so much for letting us use your photo! We really appreciate it and have updated it with the correct info.
3) Here is the web map: http://arcg.is/2o3aYJK
Your photo is used for the Anne & Betty burial site at Dorchester North Burying Ground (formerly Old North burying ground).

Let me know if there are any changes you'd like me to make. Thanks again,

Hi Troml K,

We are compiling a list of "African American Freedom Trail Sites" for a project sponsored by Tufts University. One outcome will be a web map of current and historical points of interest. May we use this photo of the “Dorchester North Burying Ground” on this site that you uploaded?

Are you the originial author of this photo? If so, we would obviously credit you.

Thanks!
Carolyn

Abijah Crane's Death Records
I noticed there's conflicting information about where he died. There's a death record on Ancestry.com that says he died in Dorchester and another one on AmericanAncestors.org that says he died in Medfield.

Abijah Crane
Hi, I found the Annual Report online. If you Google-Cemetery Dept., City of Boston, 1904-1905. you'll find it. See Page 246 for Abijah Crane, age 76 years, 6 months. I copied the wrong age on the memorial.

Abijah Crane
I'm pretty sure my source for Abijah Cranes burial information was "The Annual Report of the City of Boston, 1905-1906." It's no longer available online, so I can't verify the information, but that publication has many more burials listed than are documented by the Historic Burying Ground Initiative. I didn't see a headstone for him at Dorchester North Cem. I noticed that the tombstone inscription at Medfield says (approximately) "Erected In Memory of Abijah Crane and his wife, by their children, which sounds to me like it was erected after both parents had died and I wonder if Abijah is actually buried there. Does Medfield have burial records or just a survey of headstones? Take a look at my memorial for Elizabeth Withington Atherton in Dorchester North Cem. She died December 24, 1765(One my my ancestors, I'm a Withington). She has two headstones. one in Dorchester North Cem. and another in Pearl Street Cemetery that says "In Memory Of....". There's photos there of both headstones. Kathy B

Thanks so much for catching that typo, I have fixed it. She's now born before her poor mother was buried. :) Cindy
